Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring.

Seth appreciates the reaction to his return to Raw.

He wants to know if the people of Baltimore are going to let him talk.  He says it has been 200 days since he left.  He has been thinking about stepping inside his ring once again.  Seth says unless you are living under a rock, he is back.  For seven months, he has waited to come back to win back the title he never lost.  At Extreme Rules, he fired the first shot.

We see a photo of the Pedigree by Rollins to Roman Reigns after Roman defeated AJ Styles.

Seth says he feels like the people missed him.  Seth says it was not always that way.  When he put a steel chair in Roman’s back to end the Shield, you booed him every time.  You were calling for his head every night.  When he won the WWE Championship, he says you called him the weakest WWE Champion of all time.  You were begging for people to beat him for the title, bu t no one could.  You said he hid behind the Authority.  You went against everything he earned during his title reign.

Then his knee buckled under the weight of carrying this company on his back for so freaking long.  Then he started getting tweets and comments from people saying they missed him and wanted him to come back soon.  He got flowers and so much fan mail, he did not know what to do with it.  Seth says he did not open a single letter and he put it in a garbage can and he lit it on fire.  Seth said he did not need you on his side to win the title or to defend the title.  He says he does not need them to get it back.

Seth says there is only room on the Seth Rollins bandwagon for one dude and that is him.  You weren’t there with him when he was rehabbing twice a day to get his title back.  He says that is more work he has done in the last seven months than you have in your collective lives.  Boo him or cheer him.  He is back for one thing . . . the title he never lost.  He redesigned Seth Rollins and he will take back HIS WWE World Championship.

Roman Reigns interrupts and makes his way to the ring.

Reigns enters the ring and Rollins leaves and goes to the floor.

Shane McMahon’s music plays and he shuffles his way on the stage and goes to the ring.

Shane takes a mic and he asks for Seth to come into the ring for a conversation, an adult conversation.

Shane says there is a lot of animosity between the two and it started when you turned your back on the Shield.  Then at Wrestlemania 31, you interjected yourself  into the main event to become WWE Champion, a championship you held until your injury.  He says he knows that Seth wants his title back since he did not lose it.  This match has Wrestlemania Main Event written all over it but we are not going to wait until Wrestlemania.

At Money in the Bank, Roman Reigns defends his title against Seth Rollins.

This past Monday on Raw, Roman superman punched AJ Styles in the jaw and he’s going to do it again this Sunday at WWE Payback. The reason why Roman attacked AJ was because he doesn’t believe that AJ is telling the truth when he says he has nothing to do with Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows. He respects AJ as a singles competitor and he knows that he’s been all around the world and he’s been buddies with Anderson & Gallows, so the point is AJ Styles is not fooling anybody here. Roman says that everybody knows that AJ is with Anderson & Gallows and he wants AJ to come down to this ring and tell the truth.

The Miz comes out with Maryse to interrupt Roman Reigns. Miz asks Roman if he thought that AJ Styles was going to come out here? Miz introduces his beautiful wife Maryse to Roman. Miz was the first one to point out the fact that AJ Styles is working together with Anderson & Gallows like the 1994 film Shawshank Redemption. When the deception is revealed, Roman will be left speechless and his life will fall apart while AJ Styles becomes the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Miz wants recognition for that. Miz makes out with Maryse. Roman drops Miz with a uppercut. Roman clotheslines Miz over the top rope

Miz drives his boot to the back of Reigns head. Miz with a running boot to the back of the head of Reigns for a two count. Miz drives his knee to the back of Reigns. Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Reigns counters with a series of back elbows. Reigns drops Miz with the Spear to pickup the victory. After the match AJ Styles comes into the ring and there’s a big stare off. Anderson & Gallows comes down to the ring. Anderson & Gallows begin to double team Reigns. Gallows sends Reigns ribs first to the steel ring steps. Anderson rolls Reigns into the ring. Gallows drops Reigns with a big boot. The Usos comes out. Usos gets into a brawl with Anderson & Gallows. Jimmy with a superkick to Anderson. AJ tries to back Jimmy up, but Jimmy lands a right hand to AJ. Jimmy drops Gallows with a superkick. AJ responds with a enziguri to Jimmy. AJ goes for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Jimmy ducks out of the way. Gallows clotheslines Jimmy over the top rope. AJ & Gallows begin to argue. Reigns with a vicious spear to Gallows. Styles tries to get Reigns in the Styles Clash, but Reigns sends Styles to the ring apron. Reigns goes for the SuperMan Punch, but Styles hops off the ring. Both men have a stare off to end the show.

We are back and Roman Reigns comes to the ring, and I guess Dallas does not love the new WWE Champion.

Roman tells everyone to come on.  Roman says he is not a bad guy.  He says he is not a good guy.  He is THE guy.  That is why on the biggest Wrestlemania of all time, he beat Triple H’s ass.  He told Shane McMahon if anyone wants this, bring their ass out now.

Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring to respond to Roman’s challenge.

Chris tells everyone they can shut their damn mouths and listen to him.  Chris says that you say are THE guy, you are just a guy from where he is standing.  You are another idiot like everyone in here tonight.  Chris says he has seen them come and he has seen them go during his time in the WWE.  He has proven that he is the best in the world at what he does.  Jericho tells the people to shut up if they are going to try to hijack the show.  Jericho says they are surrounded by idiots.  You cannot compare to him.  The internet favorite AJ Styles cannot compare to him.  He beat AJ Styles last night and he buried him in the ring.

Jericho demands that Roman put him at the head of the line and he wants to know if Roman understands what he is saying.

AJ Styles comes out to the ring.

Before AJ can speak, Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring.

Sami Zayn makes his way to the ring too.

Roman tells Zayn to back off and Zayn comes into the ring and he punches Owens.  Jericho fights with Styles while Zayn sends Owens to the floor.  Zayn looks at Roman and then hits a flip dive.  Styles is sent to the floor by Jericho.  Reigns with a spear to Jericho.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Roman Reigns walks in the back and he stops to talk to Shane McMahon.  Shane says that Roman will be interested in the main event.  It will be a Fatal Four Way Number One Contender Match featuring Chris Jericho, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and AJ Styles.

One night after a shocking and unprecedented Royal Rumble, the 1183rd edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL. Over the years, the Royal Rumble has become synonymous with shocking returns and shocking victories and, with this year’s installment featuring the much-anticipated debut of “The Phenomenal One” AJ Styles, the 29th Rumble was one for the ages. However, no one could have anticipated how the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship would have concluded as, after being assaulted by Roman Reigns at last month’s WWE TLC event, Triple H would return as the surprise #30 entrant in the Rumble! No one was more shocked to see “The Game” than Roman Reigns, but what would shock everyone even more was that Triple H would actually eliminate Reigns from the Rumble, guaranteeing a new champion and, after “The Game” eliminated Dean Ambrose, the unthinkable became a reality as, for the fourteenth time in his legendary career, Triple H is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion! Throughout the Royal Rumble Match, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon would throw everything he had at Reigns, instructing The League of Nations to put Roman out of commission, but in the end, the true secret weapon was the Chairman’s son-in-law Triple H. Now that he has lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to, of all people, Triple H, how will Roman Reigns react on RAW? Holding his first World Championship in nearly seven years, what will new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H have to say about winning the title?

Backstage, Roman Reigns arrives in the arena and is questioned by JoJo as the interviewer repeats what Mr. McMahon had to say about him being “miserable”. Roman responds by telling JoJo to let Mr. McMahon and Triple H know that he’s in the arena and he’s not leaving until he hears their announcement regarding the main event of WrestleMania, which will be determined at Fastlane.

After he was unable to hold onto the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match after being eliminated by Triple H, who would go on to win the title, “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns would team with the runner-up in the Royal Rumble Match, Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose, to face The League of Nations’ Sheamus & Rusev, with King Barrett & Alberto Del Rio in their corner. At the end of a chaotic match, it was Dean Ambrose saving Roman Reigns from being pinned after the Brogue Kick from Sheamus and, shortly after this, Reigns would deliver the Spear to Sheamus, pinning Sheamus to pick up the win for himself and Ambrose. After the match, Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose would have revenge on their minds for what The League of Nations did to Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble as Ambrose exposes both announce tables. Reigns & Ambrose then bring Rusev to the top of the French announce table and, in a flashback to their days as members of The Shield, Ambrose would hoist Rusev on the shoulders of Reigns as the two men deliver a double powerbomb to Rusev through the announce table! WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon then comes out to the stage to make the big announcement as to who will compete at Fastlane for the opportunity to challenge Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. Stephanie then announces that the match at Fastlane will be a Triple Threat Match between Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and “The Beast” Brock Lesnar! Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose are then left staring unsurely at each other, knowing that, at Fastlane, they will not only have to go through each other, but Brock Lesnar as well, if they want to main event WrestleMania.

Six nights before the Royal Rumble, the 1182nd edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH. After making his emphatic return to RAW last week where he took out several WWE Superstars before flattening WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns with the F-5, making it clear that, after The McMahons turned down his request for a guaranteed spot in the main event of WrestleMania for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, he would enter the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match and take the championship by force, “The Beast” would be on RAW as Brock Lesnar, along with his advocate Paul Heyman, would be guests on Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel! With the knowledge that Jericho is also one of the 30 men who will be competing in the Royal Rumble Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday, will Brock Lesnar be looking to make another statement, this time at the expense of “Y2J”? What will WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns have to say about his run-in with “The Beast” last week? Will we see another confrontation between Reigns and Lesnar on the last RAW before the Royal Rumble?

After getting laid out with the F-5 by Brock Lesnar on last week’s RAW, RAW kicks off with the man who will be forced to put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line in the Royal Rumble Match this Sunday night, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. The champion says that he will be the first Superstar in history to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the Royal Rumble Match. Roman then says that, tonight, there’s one man he cares about and that is Brock Lesnar before the champion calls out “The Beast”.

However, Roman does not get Lesnar as, instead, he gets another Royal Rumble Match participant as Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring. Reigns says that he’s glad that Jericho is back, but Jericho is not Brock Lesnar and that is who he wants in the ring right now. Jericho says that Lesnar will be in the ring later in the night when “The Beast” is a guest on The Highlight Reel. Jericho then says that he has a “proposition” for the champion, suggesting that they have three of the favorites to win the Royal Rumble Match in the ring at the same time, inviting Roman Reigns to be a guest on The Highlight Reel in addition to Brock Lesnar. The champion gladly accepts this invite, saying that if Lesnar is going to be there, then he will be there.

The League of Nations then interrupt the proceedings as Sheamus, Rusev, King Barrett, & United States Champion Alberto Del Rio come out to the stage. Sheamus asks when the Royal Rumble Match became about Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar, saying that there are 28 other competitors in the Royal Rumble Match, including The League of Nations. Sheamus then says that one of them intends on taking back what is theirs and that is the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Sheamus then asks how Jericho can have The Highlight Reel featuring the favorites to win the Rumble and not include The League of Nations, calling the decision “stupid”. Jericho says that he doesn’t want Sheamus on The Highlight Reel because he wants the show to be “entertaining”. Del Rio then speaks up, saying that Jericho would not understand because he’s never won a Royal Rumble Match. The United States Champion then reminds everyone that he won the biggest Royal Rumble Match in history, saying that if anyone deserves to be on The Highlight Reel, it’s him. Jericho responds by saying that he just doesn’t feel like having Del Rio on The Highlight Reel.

Rusev then steps up, saying that, in Bulgaria, every day is a “rumble”, saying that his trainer used to throw a steak in the middle of the ring so he could “fight to eat”. Rusev then says that it doesn’t matter how many Superstars there are in the Rumble because one of them is going to win. Jericho then reminds Rusev that Roman Reigns won the Rumble last year and the competitor he eliminated last was none other than “The Bulgarian Brute” himself. Jericho then says that, when it matters, Rusev “comes up just a little short”. An irate Rusev begins to shout at Roman Reigns, but the champion cuts him off, saying that he’s not meeting up with Brock Lesnar until later in the evening, challenging Rusev to a one-on-one match right now! Rusev’s League of Nations cohorts then accompany Rusev to the ring so Jericho adds the stipulation that he will be the Special Referee for the match!

The opening match of the night would be an impromptu match as WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns would go one-on-one with “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev, with his League of Nations cohorts Sheamus, King Barrett, & Alberto Del Rio in his corner, and Chris Jericho serving as the Special Referee. During the match, Roman Reigns would size Rusev up for the Superman Punch, but Alberto Del Rio would get on the ring apron, distracting Chris Jericho while Sheamus pulls Reigns out of the ring, tossing him into the barricade. Jericho then turns around to see Sheamus standing over Roman and the Special Referee would put the pieces together and Jericho would eject Sheamus from ringside! Jericho would then get back into the ring to officiate, but King Barrett would get on the ring apron, arguing with Jericho, so the referee would eject Barrett as well! Del Rio then makes the same mistake that King Barrett made and, as a result, gets the same treatment as the United States Champion is eject as well! Behind Jericho’s back, Rusev was sizing up the Special Referee, but Reigns would intervene, catching Rusev with the Superman Punch and following it up with the Spear, pinning Rusev for the win.

WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon and his daughter, WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon, would then make a special appearance on RAW as The McMahons would spin the tumbler to reveal who will enter this Sunday’s Royal Rumble Match at the unenviable #1 spot. Stephanie says that, to defeat 29 other competitors, it takes “strength” and a “lot of luck” and Mr. McMahon chimes in, saying that he won the Royal Rumble Match in 1999 and that was “no luck”. Stephanie responds by calling her father an “unbelievable human specimen”. Flattered, the Chairman suggests that they find out who will be entering the Rumble Match at #1. Stephanie then spins the tumbler before Mr. McMahon reaches in to grab a name. However, the container holding the name would not open so the Chairman would grab a second ball and, after not being able to open that one either, McMahon has his daughter open it as Stephanie does so with ease.

Unsurprisingly, Stephanie reveals that the name they pulled out of the tumbler was none other than “Roman Reigns”. The Chairman admits that it might be quite the “coincidence”, suggesting they do the whole thing over. Stephanie then puts the ball back in the tumbler before spinning it again. McMahon would then pull another container, but the same problem would persist as the Chairman was unable to open any of the containers and would try a couple of them before again having Stephanie do the honors. The ruse then becomes clear as Stephanie again reveals the name to be “Roman Reigns”. The tumbler is then spun again and, this time, McMahon is able to open the container with Stephanie predictably pulling Roman Reigns’ name for a third time. The Chairman then announces that Roman Reigns will be entering the Rumble Match at #1, but, after this Sunday, Roman will no longer be #1 in WWE.

Then it was time for potentially the biggest edition of The Highlight Reel in WWE history as Chris Jericho would welcome his guests, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and “The Beast” Brock Lesnar. Before introducing his guests, Chris Jericho says that the top three favorites to win the Royal Rumble Match will all be in the ring at the same time. However, before Jericho can do the proper introductions, he is interrupted by Brock Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman. Jericho impatiently asks Heyman about his client’s whereabouts with Heyman assuring Jericho that “The Beast” will be there.

Heyman then reminds Jericho of his last run-in with Brock Lesnar, but Heyman says that Lesnar is not focused on Jericho tonight, he is focused on WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. Jericho then brings up Heyman’s failure to get Lesnar his desired main event spot at WrestleMania without having to enter the Royal Rumble Match. Jericho continues, saying that Brock is a “conqueror” and is, probably, the most “physically dominating performer” in WWE history. Jericho then suggests that Lesnar has made a lot of “enemies” and a lot of those enemies will likely be gunning for Lesnar in the Royal Rumble Match. Jericho then asks the advocate if Heyman tried to get Brock to WrestleMania without having to compete in the Royal Rumble Match because Heyman doesn’t like Brock’s “chances” in the Rumble.

Heyman laughs off the accusation, saying that, at last year’s WrestleMania, Lesnar was never pinned or made to submit to lose the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and, in his mind, this fact should have entitled Lesnar to a championship match at this year’s WrestleMania. Heyman continues, saying that, in addition to The Authority’s “intended victim” Roman Reigns, there are 28 other participants in the Royal Rumble Match, but there will be only one “Beast”. Heyman then says that Brock Lesnar will fight whoever is put in front of him and he will eliminate all of them, saying that Lesnar will turn the Royal Rumble into “Suplex City”. Jericho then closes in on Paul Heyman, asking what would happen if it came down to himself and Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble and what would happen if he throws Lesnar over the top rope to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

This brings out the first of Jericho’s two guests on The Highlight Reel as “The Beast” Brock Lesnar makes his way to the ring. In signature Brock Lesnar fashion, “The Beast” would walk around the ring, but before Lesnar can enter the ring, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns interrupts. The champion quickly makes his way through the crowd as Reigns joins Jericho in the ring, both men keeping a close eye on Brock Lesnar. Roman then symbolically lays the WWE World Heavyweight Title belt down in the ring before “The Beast” enters the ring.

However, as soon as Brock Lesnar steps foot in the ring, he is blasted with a Spear from Reigns! The champion then begins to deliver right hands to Lesnar before The League of Nations gets involved with all four men focusing on beating down Roman Reigns. This would give Brock Lesnar the opportunity to get back to his feet as “The Beast” would first pick off Rusev, dropping “The Bulgarian Brute” with a suplex! Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio would then try to beat down Lesnar, but Brock would battle back, rattling Del Rio with a suplex before planting Sheamus with the F-5 before Lesnar turns right around into another Spear from Roman Reigns!

With Roman the only one able in the ring, The Wyatt Family would appear, surrounding the champion on all sides. Roman would try his best to fight the odds, but a Discus Clothesline from Luke Harper would put Reigns down. Bray Wyatt then picks Reigns up, dropping the champion with Sister Abigail, but The Wyatt Family then turns their attention to a recovering Brock Lesnar. At the orders of Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper would catch Brock with a big boot, followed with a spinning heel kick from Erick Rowan and a big clothesline from Braun Strowman. Harper & Rowan then pick Lesnar for their leader before Bray Wyatt grabs “The Beast”, planting Brock face-first with Sister Abigail! Bray then screams that the Royal Rumble is his before kneeling next to the downed Brock Lesnar and shouting “follow the buzzards”!

Backstage, Dean Ambrose was warming up.  Roman Reigns walked in.  Dean said he was looking for him.  Roman said he was coming from seeing the Usos and they said it’s up to them to do it for the family.  Roman said he can’t wait to be on the top of the ladder getting the belt back and breaking his knuckles on Sheamus’ face.  He said that tonight, win lose or draw is about making a statement.  Dean said he has a vision of them as the champions at the end of the night and then having an amazing after-party.

WWE World Heavyweight champion Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns

Sheamus charged and Reigns drilled him with a right hand in a takeoff of the Connor McGregor UFC KO.  A “We want Cena/Cena Sucks” back and forth chant started.  The announcers have to ignore that obviously.    They went back and forth with some really physical stuff and brawld to the floor.  Roman backdropped him into the timekeeper’s area.  Sheamus charged out of there and attacked Roman.  Some nice intensity early on.

Roman was bridging a ladder between the apron and the table.  Sheamus flung a chair across his back and then nailed him with another.   Roman returned to the ring.  Sheamus followed, sliding a table in as well.   Roman nailed him with a clothesline that sent them both over the top to the floor.  He sent Sheamus into a ladder, nearly wiping out a cameraman.  He dragged Sheamus to the aisle and tossed him into furniture that was set up as set decoration a number of times.

Roman went for a suplex but Sheamus backdropped him through a table.  Sheamus returned to the ringside area and brought a ladder into the ring, hoping to retrieve his championship belt. Roman returned and they returned to the floor battling.  Roman went for the apron dropkick but was clotheslined in mid-flight.  Sheamus beat him with a chair.  He nailed White Noise through a table on the floor.

Sheamus returned to the ring but Roman tried to follow.  Sheamus beat him with a ladder and then went for a move but Roman caught him and deadlifted him into a powerbomb on a ladder.   Sheamus recovered but was nailed with a flying clothesline.  Roman charged and dove off the ringsteps, drilling Sheamus with a chair.  This is a stiff, physical match and I am loving it.

Roman set up for the Superman Punch but was caught and nailed with the Irish Curse.  A pretty loud NXT chant rang out in the hallowed halls of Boston.  Sheamus battered Roman across the chest with punches  Roman pulled Sheamus on his shoulders and fell backwards, smashing the ladder that was bridged across the apron and the announcer’s table in half.

Roman recovered first and set up the ladder.  He made it to the top but Sheamus pulled him down.  Roman pulled him down from the ladder and climbed up.  Sheamus attacked him with shots to the back and tried to powerbomb him off the ladder, but Reigns slipped out and nailed a Superman Punch.  He climbed to the top of the ladder but Sheamus pulled it down  and Reigns crashed rudely to the mat.

Sheamus went to the top and grabbed the belt but before he could unhook it, Roman charged up the ladder and nailed a Superman Punch.  Sheamus crashed through the table below.  Roman went to the top for the belt but Alberto Del Rio and Rusev attacked Roman.  Roman was pulled to the outside and put in the Accolade.  He broke free and nailed Rusev and ADR with Superman Punches.

Roman pulled Sheamus down off the ladder but was drilled with a Brogue Kick.  Reigns was sent to the floor.  Sheamus was shocked to see him return but before Reigns could do anything, Sheamus had pulled the belt down.

Your winner and still WWE World Heavyweight champion, Sheamus!

A stiff, physical main event that may have been the best performance for either man in a long time.

The League of Nations had Sheamus on their shoulders after. Roman speared them and then grabbed a chair and began beating the hell out of all of them to close the PPV.

Triple H and Stephanie came out with a horde of referees but he wouldn’t stop. The crowd got behind him, chanting his name. HHH got on the apron trying to calm Reigns down. He got into the ring to help Sheamus and you could guess what was coming next.

HHH asked him what was the matter with him and told him that he lost. Reigns looked down at the chair he had on the mat the Superman Punched HHH. He attacked HHH with the chair and began beating the hell out of him. HHH rolled out of the ring. Reigns went for the Spanish Announcer’s table and prepared it for carnage. He slammed HHH’s head into the table and drilled him with a right hand. Roman powerbombed HHH on the table, which did not break. He went on the other table and dropped an elbow, which did crush HHH through the table. Roman said he knows he’s going to be fired but it doesn’t matter now.

They had Stephanie over HHH concerned as officials and EMTs checked on him. The crowd chanted, “Thank you Roman” which is a hell of a lot better than the “We want Cena” he got at the start of the main event.

HHH was being walked out when Roman charged and speared him. Stephanie swore Roman was going to pay for this. Roman walked away and said, “Something’s going to change now” and posed for the crowd.
