Welcome to WWE Monday Night Raw. There is a recap video of last week’s episode of Raw.

Brock Lesnar’s music plays and he bounces on the stage before making his way to the ring and he is accompanied by his advocate, Paul Heyman. Paul introduces himself and his client, the current, reigning and undisputed WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, who is 13 days from conquering at Wrestlemania.  Paul says they are almost seven days from what was a savage beating by Brock Lesnar.  While he is unquestionably the greatest orator in the history of WWE, not even his articulation could match the visualization of the graphic footage from last week.

Brock laughs at what we just saw.  Paul says this is where if you watch the news channel, it would say Breaking News.  The temporary suspension of Roman Reigns has been lifted.  This means everyone whose heart is pounding harder now thinks that Paul will be interrupted by music and Roman Reigns will be coming out for a fight.

Paul has more BREAKING NEWS:  Roman Reigns is not here this evening.  For those of you who think they know the script where Paul says credit goes to Brock Lesnar.  Paul says he cannot give credit to Brock Lesnar.  Roman Reigns was raised by his father, a legend and WWE Hall of Famer, Sika; and his uncle Afa as well as the many Samoan wrestlers who have dominated this business for years and decades.  Roman was raised to be a Samoan bad ass and to fight.  They raised Roman Reigns to win.  It is a shame they didn’t raise Roman Reigns to be a man.

A man would be here tonight.  It wasn’t him or Brock Lesnar who said that.  Roman said that he is here every week, even if he is not advertised.  Roman is advertised for tonight and he is not here, two weeks before Wrestlemania.  If the beating went the other way and Brock had handcuffs put on him after finding three local MMA fighters and beat Brock within an inch of his life, Brock Lesnar would have crawled to the ring and told Roman to take the title from him.

Roman is not man enough to take the title from Brock Lesnar.  Paul says he does not need a video package.  Roman is not man enough to come tonight to take another beating from Brock Lesnar.  That is why on April 8th, Roman Reigns is not man enough to take the title from the reigning, defending, undisputed Universal Champion BROCK LESNAR.

The crowd reacts as we see Roman Reigns making his way through the crowd and to the ring.  Roman grabs a chair and Brock comes at Roman and clotheslines Reigns.  Brock picks up Roman but Roman sends Brock into the ring post.  Roman hits Brock in the back with the chair.  Roman hits Brock again and Roman has to struggle to stay on his feet after hitting Brock a third time.  Roman winds up for a Superman punch but Brock catches Roman and hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex.

Brock picks up the ring steps and he hits Roman in the face with the steps.  Brock sends Roman back into the ring.  Brock picks up the steps and hits Roman again.  Brock picks up the chair and officials come to the ring and Brock keeps them at bay before he hits Roman multiple times with the chair.

Brock goes back into the ring and he stands over Roman.  Brock gets Roman up on his shoulders for an F5 onto the steps.  Brock stands on the ring steps with his title belt and he points to the Wrestlemania sign.

Make that two runner-up heartbreakers in a row for Roman Reigns, who was the last man eliminated by Shinsuke Nakamura in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match and fell short in his bid to regain the Intercontinental Championship from The Miz just 24 hours later.

That he did is an astounding reversal of fortune, as Reigns not only dominated Miz from the jump, but he also chased off The Miztourage with a steel chair he’d retrieved from ringside. The Big Dog was so incensed that he nearly got himself disqualified, and despite a rally from Miz, Reigns found a second wind and teed off on the champion with wild-eyed fury.

The A-Lister answered with some quick thinking, focusing his efforts on his challenger’s knee with chop blocks and a torturous Figure-Four Leglock. Reigns reversed the hold to hobble Miz and dropped him with a Superman Punch, at which point The Miztourage returned to turn the tide. Reigns picked off Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel with pinpoint efficiency but took his eye off The Miz for just a second too long. After Reigns dropped Bo Dallas with a Spear, Miz pounced with a rollup and a handful of Reigns’ pants to retain the title.

Reigns was left to stew alone in the ring, and it’s easy to see why: His mantra has long been that he can, and he will. Which makes it all the more gutting that, for the second night, he almost did.

Empire Rising! On last week’s Raw, Roman teamed with Shield member Seth Rollins and his Tag Team partner Jason Jordan. The match was going the way of the brothers in arms until Jason Jordan got in the way. This led to the trio losing the match. When Roman was distracted with asking Jordan what he was doing, The Miz and his entourage returned. This caught Roman off guard and let to him being beat down.

Tonight The Emperor faced The Miztourage in a 1 vs 2 match. The match starts off as The Miz distracting Roman long enough for The Miztourage to start their beatdown. Soon The Powerhouse made his comeback. SUPERMAN PUNCH! Reigns is on a roll. Miz tries to interfere again, Roman grabs him and he backs off.

Back in the ring, Roman sets up Axel for a SPEAR and the WIN!

WWE.com has more on the match between Roman & The Miztourage. Check it out below.

A video package was shown of Roman and a few WWE superstars visiting The National Civil Rights Museum. We want to wish everyone a safe and happy Martin Luther King Jr Day!

Roman Reigns may not have defended his Intercontinental Title on Raw, but the fighting champion had a fight all the same against The Miztourage just one week before he fields a challenge from their ringleader, The Miz, on Raw 25 in seven days’ time. (“It will be awesome,” he promised after another intro from Elias.)

That is then, however. For now, The Big Dog can roll into the red brand’s quarter-centennial with a dominant performance under his belt, despite a strong opening from The Miztourage after Miz laid hands on Reigns’ title to distract him and galvanize Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel into an early advantage. The Miztourage traded tags and stomped The Big Dog into the corner, and Bo Dallas emerged as an early star of the match for his team. Once Reigns decked him off the apron, however, Curtis Axel was turned into the proverbial deer in headlights as The Big Dog began to rev up.

Things got dire enough that The Miz attempted to interfere, though Reigns quickly dispatched Dallas with a Superman Punch on the outside and attempted to drag Miz into the ring. Axel sprang with a rollup in the fray, but The Big Dog escaped the pinfall attempt and sealed the win with a Spear — much to the dismay of a furious Miz, who stewed on the ring and proclaimed Reigns’ title would ultimately be his. Despite the unfavorable result tonight, Miz might have himself an awesome Raw 25 yet.

An Enraged Emperor! Following the heinous attack on Dean Ambrose last week, which led to emergency surgery, Roman Reigns was beyond ready for payback. Roman was called into Kurt Angle’s office and was told by the Raw General Manager that he had Samoa Joe all to himself. Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe for later tonight.

Renee Young caught up with Roman Reigns before his match against Samoa Joe. Roman said that after what happened last week, tonight was payback for what happened to his brother Dean Ambrose. High on rage and fury, Roman said that after all was said and done, he was leaving Chicago still Champion.

Roman made his way out to the ring. From the look on his face, you can tell that tonight wasn’t about him. Tonight was not about the championship. Tonight was about respecting family. Roman Reigns watched his brother Dean Ambrose being taken out for months due to the attack from Samoa Joe. This means war.

Roman started off the match on fire. He quickly attacked Samoa Joe as soon as the bell rung. The only offense Samoa Joe had during the entire match was when due to a little interruption by the referee, which led to the Cocina Clutch. Reigns was an enraged Samoan who could not be tamed. Roman threw kicks and punches and missed the referees break count, which led to his disqualification.

Disqualification or not, Roman Reigns was not finished yet. Samoa Joe was in for a Samoan Beatdown. Roman Reigns caught Samoa Joe trying to run off. He caught him and ran him into the ring post not once, but twice. If you thought he was done, you would be wrong! Roman Reigns grabbed the steel steps and ran them straight into Samoa Joe. He was thinking about doing it again, but a referee stopped him. Reigns then opted for a chair, but when he swung it Samoa Joe moved out of the way. More referees came out and Samoa Joe slipped past them. Samoa Joe is running now… But for how long?

WWE.com has more on what happened during the match and the aftermath as Roman had Samoa Joe right where he wanted him. Check it out below.

Thank you for interacting with us tonight as we cover Monday Night Raw. We want to wish you and all of your family a Happy Holidays!

The good news for Samoa Joe is that Roman Reigns still hasn’t beaten him one-on-one. The bad news is that The Samoan Submission Machine missed out on the Intercontinental Title, as Reigns decided that, instead of beating Joe, he’d rather beat Joe up.

In other words, Roman remains Intercontinental Champion, even though a burst of excessive aggression forced the ref to call off the match and award the disqualification win to Joe. It’s difficult to blame Roman for the outburst, as Joe’s self-proclaimed “systematic destruction of The Shield” tore Dean Ambrose’s triceps tendon last week, putting The Lunatic Fringe on the shelf for, potentially, up to nine months, and Reigns picked up the torch in truly brutal fashion. The Intercontinental Champion came out swinging, forcing Joe into the uncommon position of fighting from underneath.

That he did, landing a suicide forearm that tweaked Reigns’ left arm. The Big Dog fought back with one good arm to force Joe into the corner, but once the champion threw the ref out of his way to continue his assault, he was disqualified. Freed from the constraints of the contest, however, Reigns went to town, dropping his foe with a targeted assault of Joe’s shoulder that a squadron of officials was powerless to stop. Joe narrowly avoided Reigns’ home-run swing with a steel chair, but the damage may well have been done. Somewhere, Ambrose is most likely smiling. In the backstage area, Seth Rollins visibly was.

A Fighting Champion! Roman Reigns has given all comers a chance at his Intercontinental Championship. He is a fighting champion after all. Reigns has not shied away from anyone including Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe starts off Raw demanding to see Roman. He wants Roman to come out and so does the WWE Universe. Seth Rollins is watching backstage and Dean walks up. Rollins tells him to go get Roman. Roman walks up and looks at the monitor. He tells the boys “I Got This”. Roman heads out to the ring. Once there, he goes straight to Samoa Joe will a full on attack. Cesaro is seen coming to Samoa Joe’s defense. Then Rollins and Ambrose follow behind. It is an all out war. Samoa Joe puts the Coquina Clutch on Roman and takes him out. For coming to Reigns aid, Rollins and Ambrose get taken out as well. What will be Roman’s fate later on when he takes on Cesaro later tonight.

Roman Reigns vs Cesaro starts off with Roman letting out all of his aggression on Cesaro. Hit after hit, Reigns takes it to Cesaro. Soon Cesaro takes over with a Fujiwa Armbar. This takes a lot out of Reigns Shoulder. It doesn’t stop Reigns. Roman Reigns fights back, bringing all he has to Cesaro. Getting out of the second Fujiwa Armbar, Reigns sets up for a Superman Punch. Cesaro blocks it, and corners Roman in the corner. Just when you thought Roman was out for the count, he uses all of his strength to Spear Cesaro into defeat. Checkout WWE.com’s review on what went down below!

Samoa Joe incurred the wrath of The Shield last week, and the experience left him profoundly unimpressed. After managing to singlehandedly upend Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins’ bid for the Raw Tag Team Titles, The Samoan Submission Machine opened Team Red by unleashing a slew of insults in the direction of The Hounds of Justice — particularly in the direction of Roman Reigns, as part of Joe’s continuing efforts to goad the Intercontinental Champion into a fight.

He got what he was looking for, as Reigns answered Joe’s call, only to be waylaid by Cesaro & Sheamus, who instigated a brawl that also brought the remaining members of The Shield charging to the ring. Joe indeed got the better of Reigns in the scuffle with The Bar’s help, but Ambrose — scheduled to face Joe later in the night — was quick to pick up the slack, throwing hands with Joe until Cesaro & Sheamus intervened, dispatching Rollins and feeding The Lunatic Fringe into a Uranage that ended the fight on Joe’s terms.

Roman Reigns’ status as a fighting champion has already landed him in the path of two hungry up-and-comers. This week, it almost cost him the Intercontinental Title. Cesaro was The Big Dog’s challenger of the week, and The Swiss Cyborg threw everything at Reigns to attempt to add a second title to his waist.

Even though Reigns prevailed, 90 percent of the bout was a brutal showcase for the challenger, who absolutely decimated Reigns’ arm to take the Superman Punch out of the game by way of some wrenching holds and a thunderous Cesaro Swing into the barricade. Effectively rendered one-armed by his challenger’s game plan, Reigns had to get crafty — rollups, Drive-By, Samoan Drop — to stay in the fight, and when the fight spilled to the outside, Reigns threw caution to the wind and landed a Superman Punch off the steps.

It seemed the high-risk strike would put Reigns back in control, but all it did was send Cesaro into a blind frenzy. A few close calls aside, The Swiss Superman firmly seized control of the match by pulverizing the champion with European uppercuts and hauling a dazed Reigns into the center of the ring to set up for the Neutralizer. But a back-body drop thwarted the challenger, and an exhausted Reigns followed that up with a last-ditch Spear to narrowly — very narrowly — retain his title.
