Hounds vs The Unicorns! The Shield has made their return in their first pay per view in a very long time. The Shield debuted at Survivor Series five years ago. This match is a dream match of sorts and puts Raw against SmackDown. The Hounds dominated in 2012 – 2013 and since then have held award winning careers as solo competitors. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins have nothing to prove as a team. What they want is to make sure The New Day knows that there is one team that is more dominant and stands tall above the rest… The Shield.

This match showed a lot of strength. Big E knocked Roman down, Roman got back up. Vise versa. The Shield has their work cut out for them. Roman Reigns serves up the legendary Samoan Drop. There is a lot of trash talking between the two teams. New Day takes over, Roman and Seth try to rally Ambrose. Ambrose hits a Missile Drop. Ambrose tags in Rollins. This match will set the tone for the entire show. Reigns tags in, hits Woods with a lariate. Woods kicks out. Roman sets up for a Superman Punch, but Xavier blocks it. Woods gets distracted and Roman hits the Superman Punch. All competitors are in the ring. Rollins and Woods are legal. Ambrose dirty deeds Woods for a two count. The match heads outside. New Day singles Reigns on the outside and takes him out of the match. Roman senses his brothers are in trouble and hits Big E with a SPEAR! Reigns tags in. ALL COMPETITORS ARE IN THE RING AND ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE!! Kofi and Reigns are legal. Reigns hits a distracted Kingston with a SPEAR! Roman tags in Rollins and Rollins tags in Ambrose. Reigns climbs to the top rope. WHAT!? TRIPLE POWERBOMB!!! Rollins covers Kingston for the win. Here is more from this world wind of a match, check out WWE.com’s review of this epic match.

Five years after The Shield’s debut, Raw Superstars Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose proved that they’re still the most dominant trio in WWE, defeating SmackDown LIVE’s The New Day in the opening match of Survivor Series 2017.

A sold-out crowd packed inside Houston’s Toyota Center witnessed a dream match that set the visceral tone for the rest of the night’s head-to-head battles for brand supremacy. In the early goings, it was Ambrose — a Superstar more than accustomed to absorbing massive amounts of bodily harm — who sustained the most damage as Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston & Big E isolated The Lunatic Fringe and hit him with two successive Unicorn Stampedes and a massive Big E spear through the ropes and to the floor. However, neither Ambrose nor his Shield brothers would stand down in defense of the red brand.

Faced with an unrelenting trio of foes, The New Day was forced to get even more creative than usual. As Ambrose lay supine on the canvas — once again separated from his then-incapacitated Shield brothers — Kingston climbed to the top rope, Woods hoisted E onto his shoulders, helping The Dreadlocked Dynamo leapfrog over his New Day allies for a punishing splash onto Ambrose. For good measure, Big E leapt onto The Lunatic Fringe himself, crushing Ambrose’s ribs with his 285-pound frame.

When an exhausted Rollins attempted to intervene, E scooped up Rollins and Ambrose, hitting the former Raw Tag Team Champions with a double Midnight Hour that seemed to seal the victory for The New Day and SmackDown LIVE. Enter: The Big Dog.

Returning to the fray after being laid out at ringside, Reigns hit Big E with a thunderous Spear that made landfall on top of the pin attempt, breaking the count. A brawl between both frustrated factions ensued, and a Spear to Kingston led many to believe that The Shield’s signature Triple Powerbomb was on the horizon. Reigns, however, had other ideas, going up to the middle rope instead of getting into his usual position for the move. Ambrose and Rollins got the message, and the reunited Hounds of Justice ended the dream match in nightmarish fashion for Kingston, who suffered an impressive (and impactful) Super Triple Powerbomb. Ambrose scored the pinfall over Kingston, and Raw stood triumphant.

After weeks of sieges and psychological warfare, it was The Shield who scored Raw’s first victory over SmackDown LIVE at Survivor Series. Believe that.

RESPECT HAS BEEN EARNED! As the rivalry between Roman Reigns and John Cena reached a boiling point, the historical WrestleMania worthy match would soon prove who was the best at trash talking and bringing the fight. The rivalry between the two started as a back and forth war of words on Twitter. It soon escalated when the two met in the ring for the first time when John Cena, who is a free agent, showed up on Monday Night Raw. Roman Reigns would soon prove that he can trash talk and let his in-ring ability speak for itself. Reigns silenced Cena with a Spear to earn the long lost respect of John Cena, but in the end, respect was earned on both sides. Roman remains THE BIG DOG of his yard. Here is how it all unfolded courtesy of WWE.com.

If you were scoring the John Cena-Roman Reigns rivalry on how the two talked against each other, you’d be hard-pressed to argue that Cena didn’t get the win. But talk only gets you so far, and it was Reigns who walked out of WWE No Mercyas the victor of a WrestleMania-caliber match between WWE’s two most commanding and divisive Superstars.

Cena had said earlier that he thought No Mercy would be a “cakewalk,” and he appeared all too happy to play to the WWE Universe rather than take Reigns seriously, even offering to leave the match entirely when they voiced their displeasure for both Superstars. That earned him a less-than-favorable response from Reigns, who tossed Cena into the steel steps, stalked him around the ring and delivered a pinpoint Drive-By when Cena attempted to stagger to his feet.

The 16-time World Champion didn’t just get stuck in the blocks; he seemed completely unprepared for Reigns’ answers to his maneuvers — that trip into the steps brought him to his knees, and Reigns wiped the ear-to-ear grin off Cena’s face with a jaw-shattering right hand as he attempted to hit his notorious “Five Moves of Doom.” Yet, as he always does, Cena did eventually rally to hit his big maneuvers, including the Five-Knuckle Shuffle, an STF and a reversal of the Superman Punch into an Attitude Adjustment.\

Neither put Reigns down (he shook off the Shuffle, reversed the STF into a one-armed powerbomb, and kicked out of the AA at two), but both Superstars quickly learned that each of them were as advertised as they began to unload their respective match-enders. Cena kicked out of a Superman Punch and olé’d Reigns full-speed into the turnbuckle when The Big Dog attempted a Spear, but Reigns also kicked out of the near-bulletproof second-rope AA.

It was at this point that Cena tapped into his old reserves of ruthless aggression, but Reigns’ persistence didn’t just surprise him, it nearly broke him. First, Reigns reversed Cena’s attempt of an AA through the announce table by spearing Cena through the desk that had been meant for him, and then his kick-out of two consecutive AA’s unnerved Cena so much that the typically stoic Superstar went nose-to-nose with referee John Cone over the count. Ultimately, Reigns had one more ounce in the tank left than Cena did, as the 16-time World Champion walked straight into a quick-strike Superman Punch-Spear combo out of nowhere moments later, leading to the most precious three-count of Reigns’ young career.

It was what happened afterward, though, that may truly define this contest for years to come. Cena raised Reigns’ hand in a gesture of respect and received a nod of his own from The Big Dog, yet The Cenation Leader remained in the ring while Reigns made his exit. Once Roman had left, Cena rose to his feet and bowed to the audience to the tune of a standing ovation and a “Thank You Cena” chant. So now, he’s got Reigns’ respect. He may not have wanted it, but he’s got it. The WWE Universe’s too, though it’s fair to say he may have always had that after all.

Since Kevin Owens won the WWE Universal Championship back in August, Owens has had a very helpful best friend in the form of Chris Jericho, who has repeatedly helped Owens retain the WWE Universal Title no matter the stipulation put in place. This would lead to an interesting idea from the mind of RAW General Manager Mick Foley, who announced that, at the Royal Rumble, Kevin Owens would defend the WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns, but to ensure that Chris Jericho would not get involved, Jericho will be locked in a shark cage that will be suspended high above the ring! Not only that, but Kevin Owens found out this past Monday night on RAW that the title match will also have no disqualifications! With Chris Jericho’s presence in the shark cage keeping the match truly one-on-one, can Kevin Owens prove the naysayers wrong and keep the WWE Universal Title without the help of Chris Jericho or will Roman Reigns beat Owens for the WWE Universal Title and prove that Owens needs Jericho to remain champion?

Then it was time for the WWE Universal Championship to be defended in a unique match as Kevin Owens would defend the WWE Universal Title against Roman Reigns with Owens’ best friend Chris Jericho locked in a shark cage that will be suspended high above the ring in a match that will also have no disqualifications! Before the match begins, Chris Jericho would have to be locked in the shark cage, but Jericho would refuse as Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho would double team Roman Reigns before Roman fights back, sending Owens out of the ring before sending Jericho face-first into the steel shark cage. Reigns then tosses Jericho into the shark cage and locking it shut and, as the United States Champion is raised above the ring in his prison, the title match officially gets underway.

Early on in the match, Owens and Reigns would take full advantage of the no disqualification rule as the two would fight through the crowd before returning to ringside. This is when Kevin Owens would pull several steel chairs out from under the ring, using one of the chairs on the challenger before setting up several chairs into a pyramid on the outside. Owens then brings Reigns up to the ring apron with the intent of powerbombing the challenger through the steel pyramid, but Roman would counter. Roman then tries to suplex Owens through the stack of chairs but the champion avoids such a fate. Reigns then gets back into the ring, taking Owens down before sending the champion shoulder-first into the ring post.

Roman Reigns then grabs a table from under the ring, trying to set up the table in the ring but Kevin Owens intervenes before folding the table back up and sliding it to the outside. The fight would then continue on the outside with Roman Reigns setting up a table, but Kevin Owens would deliver a pair of kicks to the challenger that leaves Roman lying on the table. Owens then heads to the top rope, diving off with a big frog splash to Roman Reigns, sending the challenger crashing through the table to the floor! Owens then brings Roman back into the ring, going for the pin, but Reigns kicks out. The champion then grabs a steel chair, using the chair to try and weaken Reigns as Chris Jericho cheers Kevin Owens on from above the ring.

After wedging the steel chair in the corner, Owens would send Reigns face-first into the chair, but when this fails to put the challenger away, Chris Jericho pulls brass knuckles out, dropping them to Kevin Owens and the champion would use the knuckles for his own version of the Superman Punch, blasting Reigns with the knuckles, but Roman kicks out again! Owens then looks for a powerbomb on an open steel chair but Reigns would counter with a Samoan Drop onto the steel chair, but the champion is able to kick out.

Roman Reigns then pulls another table out from under the ring, sliding the table into the ring and propping the table up in the corner. Roman then connects with the Superman Punch to the champion with Kevin Owens kicking out. With the table in position, Roman Reigns would go for the Spear to Kevin Owens through the table, but Owens would counter with a Stone Cold Stunner! After Roman kicks out, Owens stomps a mud hole in Roman Reigns in the corner before squashing Reigns in the corner with the Cannonball. The champion then brings Roman to the top rope with the intention of delivering a superplex to the challenger through the pyramid of chairs, but Reigns fights out before catching Owens with the Superman Punch, knocking Owens off of his perch through the pyramid of steel chairs on the outside!

However, instead of bringing the champion back into the ring, Roman Reigns would expose the announce table at ringside, hoisting Owens up and sending the champion crashing through the table with a vicious powerbomb! Roman would then bring Owens back into the ring, sizing the champion up for the Spear, but this is when Braun Strowman would emerge! “The Monster Among Men” would pull Roman Reigns out of the ring, delivering a chokeslam to Roman Reigns on the German announce table before Braun brings Reigns into the ring, using his running powerslam to drive Roman through the table in the corner, allowing Owens to pin Roman to successfully retain the WWE Universal Title in a hellacious match!

Then it was time for the namesake of the legendary Royal Rumble event as, for the 30th year in a row, WWE would present the most unpredictable match of the year as the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match would determine who will challenge for either the WWE Championship or the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania. In the Royal Rumble Match, two randomly drawn Superstars would start the match and, every two minutes, another randomly drawn Superstar would join the match and this trend would continue until 30 Superstars have entered the Royal Rumble Match with elimination occurring when a Superstar is thrown over the top rope with both feet touching the floor and the last man remaining would win the Royal Rumble Match and earn himself a shot at either the WWE Championship or the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania.

The unenviable #1 entry into the 2017 Royal Rumble Match would be entering his very first Royal Rumble Match as Big Cass would make his way to the ring, but not before Big Cass and his tag team partner Enzo Amore address the San Antonio fans. Big Cass would be joined in starting the match by the #2 entrant in the Royal Rumble Match, United States Champion and Royal Rumble Match veteran Chris Jericho. As Big Cass takes Chris Jericho down with a big boot in the ring, the #3 entrant would arrive in the Royal Rumble Match as “The Lucha Dragon” Kalisto makes his Royal Rumble Match debut. The most hyped Superstar in the Royal Rumble Match would then make his entry at #4 as Mojo Rawley would join Big Cass, Chris Jericho, and Kalisto in the Rumble.

In at #5 was “Gentleman” Jack Gallagher, who would use his umbrella to take control in the match, even using the umbrella to low blow Chris Jericho. The ring would then continue to fill up with the #6 entrant as, in his home state of Texas, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry would march to the ring. Mark Henry would immediately make an impact on the match, tossing his fellow Rumble entrants around the ring. Jack Gallagher would then try to use his umbrella to fly to take out Mark Henry, but “The World’s Strongest Man” would catch Gallagher, tossing Gallagher over the top rope to elimination.

The monsters then keep on coming with “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman entering at #7. Strowman would immediately make his presence felt as Braun tosses out Mojo Rawley and Big Cass before throwing Kalisto over the top rope to the outside, eliminating three men before coming face-to-face with Mark Henry. Strowman is then able to send Henry over the top rope, knocking “The World’s Strongest Man” to the floor to eliminate the Texan. Braun would then be met with a familiar foe at #8 as Sami Zayn enters the Royal Rumble Match. One of the few Superstars capable of taking it to Braun Strowman would then enter at #9 as “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show enters the Royal Rumble Match, coming face-to-face with Braun Strowman.

Big Show is actually able to chokeslam Braun Strowman before leveling Chris Jericho with the Knockout Punch. Strowman then gets back to his feet as Braun and Big Show battle to eliminate the other with Braun able to teeter Big Show over the top rope to elimination. The #10 entrant would then make an unexpected appearance as NXT star “The Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger would make his Royal Rumble debut! In at #11 was James Ellsworth, who would refuse to enter the ring to face Braun Strowman. Sami Zayn and Tye Dillinger would try to work together to eliminate Braun, but Strowman would stay in the match.

With James Ellsworth still not in the ring, Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose would enter the Royal Rumble Match at #12 and Ambrose would trick James Ellsworth into entering the ring. Braun Strowman would make quick work of James Ellsworth, hurling Ellsworth over the top rope to the outside. “The Lone Wolf” would then enter his first Royal Rumble Match as Baron Corbin enters at #13. Braun Strowman would then score his seventh elimination, tossing Tye Dillinger over the top rope to the outside. Dean Ambrose, Baron Corbin, and Sami Zayn would then get on the same page, working together to eliminate Braun Strowman as Sami Zayn hits the Helluva Kick, allowing Baron Corbin to eliminate “The Monster Among Men”.

The first of the three New Day members would then enter the Royal Rumble Match as Rumble highlight reel Kofi Kingston enters at #14. At the halfway point of the Royal Rumble Match, The Miz would enter the fray at #15. Kofi Kingston then finds himself able to hang on to the ring post to avoid elimination before #16 rushes to the ring as “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus arrives in the Royal Rumble Match. Sheamus takes over in the match, hitting Chris Jericho with the Brogue Kick as Jericho weakly rolls to the outside again. The second member of The New Day would then enter at #17 as Big E joins teammate Kofi Kingston in the Royal Rumble Match.

The #18 entrant into the Royal Rumble Match would then be “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev followed by the #19 entrant, Cesaro. With the ring getting crowded, the final member of The New Day would enter at #20 as Xavier Woods joins Big E & Kofi Kingston in the Royal Rumble Match. As The New Day works together to try and take over the Royal Rumble Match, the leader of The Wyatt Family, Bray Wyatt, enters the Royal Rumble Match at #21. In his first Royal Rumble Match, Apollo Crews would enter the Royal Rumble Match at #22. Former tag team champions Cesaro & Sheamus then manage to eliminate all three members of The New Day before Sheamus tries to eliminate his own tag team partner Cesaro with Chris Jericho taking advantage, eliminating both Cesaro & Sheamus!

A former Royal Rumble winner would then enter at #23 as Wyatt Family member Randy Orton enters the Royal Rumble Match. “The Viper” would RKO every Superstar in sight with the exception of Bray Wyatt, whom Orton helps to his feet before Dolph Ziggler comes in at #24. The third member of The Wyatt Family then enters the Royal Rumble Match as Luke Harper comes in at #25. Luke Harper is quick to eliminate Apollo Crews before Harper comes face-to-face with Randy Orton with Bray Wyatt standing in between his two Wyatt Family members. This is when Luke Harper would shock his leader by leveling Bray with a clothesline! Harper would then look to add insult to injury, going for Sister Abigail to Bray Wyatt, but Randy Orton would intervene with an RKO to Harper.

Business then picks up with the #26 entrant into the Royal Rumble Match as “The Beast” Brock Lesnar enters the Royal Rumble Match with a vengeance. Brock would toss Dean Ambrose out of the Royal Rumble Match, followed by Dolph Ziggler! “The Beast” then ravages the other entrants with suplexes and F-5’s before #27 had the unfortunate fate of coming face-to-face with “The Beast” as Enzo Amore enters the Royal Rumble Match. Brock makes quick work of Enzo, dropping Enzo with a clothesline before tossing Enzo to the outside. The #28 entrant would then paint a very intriguing picture as Goldberg would come to the ring to go face-to-face with Brock Lesnar and, much like their match at Survivor Series, Goldberg would immediately blast “The Beast” with the Spear before eliminating Brock Lesnar!

As Goldberg stands dominant in the ring, the bell would toll to signify the arrival of the #29 entrant as, ten years after winning the Royal Rumble Match, The Undertaker would appear in the ring, coming face-to-face with Goldberg! The Undertaker then grabs Goldberg by the throat before it’s broken up and Goldberg would eliminate Rusev before The Undertaker eliminates Baron Corbin! Goldberg would then hit The Undertaker with the Spear before Goldberg eliminates Luke Harper. “The Phenom” then gets to his feet before eliminating Goldberg from the Royal Rumble Match! With The Undertaker the only man left standing in the ring, #30 would be the man who was cost the WWE Universal Title by Braun Strowman earlier in the night, Roman Reigns. Roman would come face-to-face with The Undertaker with Reigns and Undertaker trading shots before “The Phenom” plants Reigns with a chokeslam.

The Undertaker then eliminates The Miz and Sami Zayn from the Royal Rumble Match before Roman Reigns is able to surprise The Undertaker and the world by eliminating The Undertaker from the Royal Rumble Match, leaving it down to Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt, & Randy Orton. After lasting over an hour in the Royal Rumble Match, a Superman Punch would eliminate Chris Jericho from the Royal Rumble Match, leaving Roman Reigns against Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton. Roman Reigns would catch both Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton with the Superman Punch before Roman eliminates Bray Wyatt. Reigns then goes for the Spear to Randy Orton, but “The Viper” counters with the RKO before Orton tosses Reigns over the top rope to the outside as Randy Orton wins the 2017 Royal Rumble Match, earning himself a shot at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania!

Throughout WWE history, only one Superstar has simultaneously held a World Title and the United States Title and that was Seth Rollins. However, at Roadblock: End of the Line, reigning United States Champion Roman Reigns would be looking to do what his former Shield teammate had done before him when Reigns challenges Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship. With the friendship between Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho seemingly no more, will Kevin Owens be able to survive on his own against Roman Reigns with the WWE Universal Title on the line or will Roman Reigns end 2016 by making history as the first Superstar in history to hold the WWE Universal Title and the United States Title at the same time?

Then it was time for the final main event of the final WWE pay-per-view of 2016 as United States Champion Roman Reigns would look to make history as Roman Reigns challenges Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship. Early on in the match, the fight would spill to the outside of the ring where Roman Reigns exposes two of the announce tables at ringside before Kevin Owens brings Reigns back into the ring. Later on in the match, Roman Reigns would go for the Superman Punch, but Kevin Owens ducks the Superman Punch, planting Reigns with a DDT. Owens then connects with the Cannonball in the corner only for the United States Champion to pop up and catch Owens with the Superman Punch, but the defending champion is able to kick out. Shortly after this, Kevin Owens would find himself on the top rope and this is when Roman catches Owens with a second Superman Punch. However, the champion manages to fight back, hitting a huge package side slam off of the top rope!

Kevin Owens then climbs back up to the top rope, looking for a swanton bomb to Roman Reigns, but Roman gets his knees up. Reigns then sizes Owens up for the Spear, but the champion rolls out of the ring. Roman then hits the Drive-By dropkick on the outside, but when Reigns goes for a second Drive-By, Owens moves out of the way before hitting the United States Champion with a super kick. Then, with Reigns lying prone on an announce table at ringside, Owens would dive off of the barricade with a frog splash to Reigns, but the table would not break so the champion would climb onto the barricade, leaping off with a second frog splash that sends Reigns crashing through the table! Roman then somehow manages to beat the ten-count back into the ring and Owens is quick to score with a third frog splash to the United States Champion, but Reigns kicks out! Owens then hits the Pop-Up Powerbomb on Roman Reigns, but Reigns is able to get his foot on the bottom rope at the last second, keeping the match alive.

Kevin Owens then exits the ring, grabbing the WWE Universal Title belt and bringing into the ring, but just as Owens is about to use the title belt, Roman Reigns catches Owens with the Spear! However, with both men down, Chris Jericho would make his way down to the ring and, with a decision on his hands, Chris Jericho hits Kevin Owens with the Codebreaker, ending the match by disqualification! After the match, Chris Jericho grabs the WWE Universal Title belt and, just when it appears as though Jericho is interested in taking the title from Owens, Jericho hands the title belt over to Kevin Owens! Owens and Jericho then hug it out as it becomes apparent that the dissolution of their friendship over the last few weeks was a complete ruse! The best friends are then quick to leave the ring once they see a seething Roman Reigns heading their way, but as Owens and Jericho try to leave up the entrance ramp, they are halted by the arrival of Seth Rollins!

With no exit for Owens and Jericho, they back up to ringside where Roman Reigns is waiting as the United States Champion levels Kevin Owens with the Spear on the outside! Seth Rollins then catches Jericho in the ring, planting Jericho with the Pedigree. However, the former Shield teammates were not done with Chris Jericho as Reigns and Rollins expose the remaining announce table, delivering a Shield powerbomb to Jericho through the table! Having taken care of Chris Jericho, Reigns & Rollins would spot Kevin Owens trying to leave and they are quick to stop the WWE Universal Champion from escaping. Reigns & Rollins then expose the RAW announce table positioned by the stage before sending Kevin Owens crashing through it with another Shield powerbomb! Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns then stand tall over the broken table and the broken WWE Universal Champion, having made it completely clear that the former Shield teammates have had enough of the best friends.
