WMPREVIEW

The Shield vs. Kane & The New Age Outlaws

Since being hired as Director of Operations by The Authority, the always volatile Kane has struggled at times to act in a manner befitting an impartial administrative figure. When challenged, he has often unleashed Big Red rage on any Superstars who refused to respect the rule of WWE COO Triple H & Stephanie McMahon. And now that The Shield has stopped following the company line, The Devil’s Favorite Demon will partner with The New Age Outlaws at The Showcase of the Immortals to attempt to put The Hounds of Justice in their place.

In a little more than a year’s time, the black-clad trio of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins & United States Champion Dean Ambrose has laid waste to the likes of The Undertaker, The Rock, Daniel Bryan and Big Show. All the while, their unique brand of justice has often brought them into an unspoken alliance with The Authority along the way. However, after infighting and jealousy caused The Hounds to suffer heartbreaking defeats to The Wyatt Family, an intense “Shield Summit” on SmackDown brought Reigns, Rollins & Ambrose into a renewed unity that would spell destruction for anyone in their path — including, as it turned out, high-ranking Authority brass.

When Kane began talking down to The Shield and order them to administer beat downs to Big Show and Jerry Lawler respectively, the triumvirate refused to comply, instead turning their assault on the Director of Operations.

In response, Kane enlisted the services of the six-time Tag Team Champions, The New Age Outlaws, to help deliver a retaliatory strike to The Shield during a WWE Tag Team Title No. 1 Contenders Fatal 4-Way Match. It’s hard to ignore that Road Dogg & Billy Gunn have longstanding ties with The Authority’s Triple H, which date back to their days of running roughshod over Superstars as part of DX.

Will the Attitude Era stalwarts make The Shield regret ever crossing their “Authority”? Or will The Hounds of Justice prove on The Grandest Stage of Them All that, when united, the WWE Universe is indeed still their yard? Find out when WrestleMania 30 airs live on WWE Network, Sunday April 6!

PressofAtlanticCity.com recently sat down for an interview on March 19th  with Roman Reigns,  he Discusses The Shield’s Insane Work Ethic, WrestleMania XXX Preperation, Hogan’s Return and among many other topics. You can read the interview below:

Before the biggest stars in sports entertainment bodyslam and piledrive their way into New Orleans on April 6 for “WrestleMania XXX,” some of the wrestlers participating in the Super Bowl of wrestling will battle in Atlantic City as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) makes its annual stop as part of their “Road To WrestleMania” tour 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Boardwalk Hall.

The Atlantic City event will feature WWE superstars such as Daniel Bryan facing “The Big Red Monster” Kane in a steel cage, and others such as The Big Show, Christian, Big E., Cesaro, Ryback, Kofi Kingston and more.

Perhaps the most intense match will feature fast-rising powerhouse Roman Reigns, who will lead his team known as “The Shield” — with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins — against the dominant Wyatt Family featuring leader Bray Wyatt with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan.

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Roman Reigns, aka Leati Joseph “Joe” Anoa’i, is a member of the well-known Samoan-American wrestling dynasty and took the time to talk to At The Shore about his career and what you might witness this weekend in Atlantic City.

Q: How did The Shield become main event players so quickly after debuting in the WWE two years ago?

A: We brought in an insane work ethic with us. We all trained down in the developmental system together, so the powers that be knew what kind of competitors they were bringing up. If there’s something we want, or we need, we’ll fight for it, and I think that’s pretty apparent with what we’ve done in the first couple of years.

Q: Do you have any plans for Atlantic City?

A: I enjoy those big city, entertainment-filled atmospheres, like the Boardwalk. I was actually just in Vegas a couple weeks ago, so anytime I can be around the lights and all that action, it makes for a fun time and a good atmosphere, and if you have that, you have a couple of good people around you to talk to. You can’t really ask for a better time.

Q: What’s your thoughts on the recent WWE return of Hulk Hogan, who will host “WrestleMania XXX?”

A: He’s such a big name, and he’s a legend. He was a part of the process that laid down the foundation for what we have now. To be such a huge part of our history, it’s important that he’s a part of our present, and a part of our future.

Q: What can fans expect as The Shield battles The Wyatt Family?

A: Whenever The Wyatts face off with The Shield, some of the rules may kind of go out of the door, because we get wild. We have a bit of hardcore is what we’re doing. The type of intensity that we bring, that’s not only limited to a TV match. When we face off in Atlantic City on the 22nd of March, we’re bringing more.

Q: What is the atmosphere of a “Road To WrestleMania” event like?

A: We’re in the home stretch to WrestleMania, so there’s no time for games. There’s no playing around. Everyone’s trying to get themselves just completely polished before the biggest sports entertainment show on earth, so everybody is going to bring their A games. Everybody wants to be sharp and perfectly set for Mania. We’re coming in there to wreck shop, to tear it down, and where it starts is for these live crowds on these WWE live events. There’s no days off for a WWE superstar, especially once you get into the home stretch to WrestleMania.

Warning! Spoiler area! To read click here!
The Shield vs. Real Americans vs. Rybaxel vs. 3MB went to a no contest when it broke down into chaos. Late in the match, Kane came down and attacked Roman Reigns and that’s when everything went to hell and the referee called an end to the match without declaring a winner. This was supposed to be a number one contender match to the tag team titles, mind you. The brawl continued and suddenly the New Age Outlaws appeared to assist Kane in beating down Reigns. Suddenly, the tide turned and all the heel teams beat down the freshly turned babyface Shield trio ending the segment. It’s getting really interesting with how they’re booking this now.

In a backstage segment, Kane meets with all the heel teams who assisted him in beating down The Shield earlier and Rybaxel and the Real Americans are rewarded title shots while 3MB are all entered in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. The New Age Outlaws are apparently Kane’s new muscle and it wasn’t mentioned when they’ll be getting their rematch. It also was not specified when the other two teams will get their title shots.

One of those things is the Occupy Raw stunt from last week. It was dangerous and inappropriate. On behalf of the Authority, he has conducted a thorough investigation. Daniel Bryan could not have pulled off this stunt alone. One man made this possible. This man was a resident of Memphis and allowed people to get in the ring.We will now take action . . . the kind of action that has a place in this ring. Kane asks for Jerry Lawler to come into the ring.
