After illegally getting involved in the No Disqualification match between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship last week and helping Owens retain the WWE Universal Title again, RAW kicks off with Chris Jericho as Jericho welcomes everyone to The Highlight Reel. Jericho first introduces his guest and best friend as WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens joins Jericho on The Highlight Reel. After making fun of American Thanksgiving, the champion says that he is “thankful” for being the WWE Universal Champion and he is “thankful” for being the “face” of Monday Night RAW. Owens then says that, last but not least, he is “thankful” for his best friend Chris Jericho.

The best friends then hug before Jericho takes his turn, saying that he is “thankful” for Kevin Owens, he is “thankful” for his scarf, and he is “thankful” for Seth Rollins. Jericho then explains that Rollins proved to him that Seth is the “epitome of a stupid idiot” before saying that Owens beat Rollins “fair and square” last week. Jericho then claims that, last week, it wasn’t Chris Jericho wearing a Sin Cara mask, it was “Sin Cara wearing a Chris Jericho mask”. Owens then says that he had Seth Rollins right where he wanted him last week before the champion says that, after receiving a powerbomb on the ring apron, Seth Rollins is not medically cleared to be on RAW tonight.

This brings out United States Champion Roman Reigns, who makes his way to the ring to confront Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. Roman tells the best friends that Kevin Owens as the WWE Universal Champion is a “huge joke”. Owens responds by saying that the only “joke” he sees around here is Roman Reigns calling himself “the guy” before Roman says that Owens is just “a guy” who needs a lot of “help”. Reigns explains that Owens needs “help with everything” but Owens argues that he doesn’t “need” Chris Jericho. Roman then says that he disagrees, pointing out that, if it wasn’t for Chris Jericho, Owens would not be the WWE Universal Champion right now.

Jericho then intervenes, clicking his pen as he gets ready to put Roman Reigns on the List of Jericho. However, this is when Kevin Owens would shout at his best friend, telling Jericho to “shut up” before telling Reigns that he can’t talk to him like that. Owens then threatens to powerbomb Roman on the ring apron like he did to Seth Rollins last week and Roman responds by challenging Kevin Owens to a match tonight and, if he wins, then gets a shot at the WWE Universal Title at Roadblock: End of the Line! Owens then accepts the challenge, saying that Reigns is going to be on The Kevin Owens Show before Roman offers a “spoiler alert”, saying that he is going to kick Owens’ “ass” tonight.

Following a confrontation on The Highlight Reel earlier in the night, RAW would see a Champion vs. Champion match as United States Champion Roman Reigns would go one-on-one with WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens in a non-title match with the stipulation that, if Roman Reigns wins, then he will get a shot at the WWE Universal Title at Roadblock: End of the Line in just under three weeks. Before the match begins, Kevin Owens would attack Roman Reigns and this would give Owens the early advantage once the match officially gets underway, sending Reigns into the steel steps on the outside. The United States Champion would repeatedly battle back with both champions trading blows throughout the match.

Later in the match, Kevin Owens would fail to put Roman Reigns away after a super kick before Owens heads to the top rope, but Reigns catches the WWE Universal Champion with a couple of right hands. Owens then fights Reigns on the top rope before Roman blasts Owens with the Superman Punch, knocking Owens out of the ring! Owens manages to pull himself to his feet and Roman sizes Owens up before catching Owens with another Superman Punch. Roman then rolls Owens back into the ring, looking for the Spear, but Owens counters with a kick only for Reigns to power through, blasting Owens with the Spear, pinning the WWE Universal Champion to earn himself a shot at the WWE Universal Title on December 18 at Roadblock: End of the Line!

Men’s Elimination Match: Team Raw (Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Braun Strowman) vs Team Smackdown (AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton, and Shane McMahon)

The champions start off, and they go at it until all the other partners get in, and Rollins and Reigns start to team up against Team Smackdown.  Shane tags in and cleans house, then AJ and Ambrose wind up working together to clear out the ring…but then they turn their attention on each other and start brawling.  Shane McMahon tries to separate them, AJ nails Ambrose from behind, and Strowman comes in and hits a running powerslam to eliminate Ambrose.

Dean Ambrose has been eliminated.

Strowman drags Shane into the ring, and Shane unloads with a flurry of pounches, but Strowman is too big and crushes Shane with a splash in the corner.  AJ tries for a Phenomenal forearm, but Strowman knocks him to the floor, then flattens Orton when he tries to come in.  Bray Wyatt is in and goes face to face with Strowman, and Wyatt tells Strowman to attack Team Raw, and he goozles Jericho, then lets him go and clotheslines Wyatt’s had off.  Strowman knocks Wyatt to the floor with a diving dropkick.  Strowman goes after Wyatt and rams him into the ring apron.  Orton gives Strowman an RKO into the announce table, then helps Wyatt up and they put Strowman on the table and Shane comes off the top rope with an elbowdrop to Strowman that sends them both through the table.  The brawl continues on the floor, and AJ Styles dumps Shane back into the ring, but James Ellsworth holds Strowman’s foot from under the ring to prevent him from getting back in, and Strowman gets counted out.

Braun Strowman is eliminated.

Strowman beats Ellsworth up to the top of the ramp and tosses him off the stage into some production equipment before walking to the back.  Owens is in the ring and working Shane over, does the Shane dance, and covers for 2.  Jericho tags in and dropkicks Shane for 2, he goes for a Lionsault, but Shane gets the knees up and gets a small package on Jericho for 2.  Jericho hits a Codebreaker on Shane, another on Randy Orton, and he covers Shane for 2.  Rollins tags in and puts the boots to Shane, then Jericho tags in and comes off the top with a splash that misses, and Shane tags Styles in.  Styles goes to work on Jericho and hits an over the knee neckbreaker for 2.  Jericho blocks the Styles Clash and goes for the Walls of Jericho, Styles breaks free and gets the Calf Crusher, and Jericho rams AJ’s head into the mat and goes for the Walls again, Styles reverses to a small package, Styles unlaods with a series of strikes, nails Owens on the apron, goes for the Styles Clash, but Owens comes in and nails styles with Jericho’s list and hits him with Jericho’s list.  He gives styles the pop-up powerbomb as the referee calls for the DQ.

Kevin Owens is eliminated.

We’re down to 4-on-3, and Jericho is feverishly trying to put his list back together as Styles tags Orton, who comes in and hits Jericho with the RKO for 3.

Chris Jericho is eliminated.

We’re down to Reigns and Rollins against almost the entire Smackdown team.  Reigns looks at Rollins and says “let’s do this”, and Rollins goes after Orton, but eats a snap powerslam for 2.  Wyatt tags in and unloads on Rollins, and Rollins os caught in the wrong part of town.  Orton superplexes Rollins, and both men make tags and in comes Reigns and Styles, and Reigns is dominant.  Reigns hits a splash mountain for 2, but he comes in for the Superman Punch and Styles hits a Pelle kick.  Shane tags in and opens up on Reigns, and hits a floatover DDT.  Shane dodges a double stomp from Rollins, gives him a spinebuster, then rams Reigns into the ringpost.  Shane goes to the top rope and goes for a Van Terminator, but Reigns hits him with a spear on the way down.  He makes a cover and Shane gets his shoulder up at 2.  The referee checks on Shane and appears to injury default him out.

Shane McMahon is eliminated.

Okay good, Shane couldn’t even do a clean loss after taking that.  Wonderful.  Wyatt hits Reigns with a senton for 2, and now Reigns is the one caught in the wrong corner.  Reigns breaks free and tags Rollins in, and he goes to work on Styles and hits a Blockbuster.  Styles backdrops Rollins to the apron, but Rollins hits an enziguiri and a springboard forearm, then he takes Wyatt out with a dive to the floor, a series of corner charges on AJ, and he goes to the top on AJ, but AJ slips out, nails Rollins and goes to the top, but Rollins hits him with a Pelle kick of his own.  Rollins superplexes Styles, picks him up and goes into a falcon arrow, and Orton breaks it up at 2.  Rollins dumps Orton to the floor, but goes for a dive and Orton nails him.  Reigns saves Rollins from a DDT on the floor, and the former Shield members put the boots to Orton on the floor.  Rollins slaps Reigns on the back, they clear off the announce table, but Styles comes in before they can go for the Shield powerbomb.  Ambrose runs back into the ring and attacks AJ Styles, and a slew of referees try to eject Ambrose, but he goes back after Styles and rams him into the ring steps.  Security finally gets Ambrose out of there, but Reigns and Rollins go after security and let Ambrose free.  Against all odds, the former Shield is working together to fight off security, then they give AJ the triple powerbomb through the announce table.  Rollins dumps Styles back into the ring and covers him for the win.

AJ Styles has been eliminated.

BIG elimination there, and now we’re even with Reigns and Rollins against Orton and Wyatt.  Luke Harper suddenly comes out of nowhere, and he distracts the Shield wihle Wyatt and Orton sneak attack them.  Orton and Reigns go at it on the floor while Wyatt and Rollins fight in the ring.  Harper rams Reigns into the post while Rollins hits a slingblade on Wyatt, then takes Harper out with a dive.  Rollins hits Orton with an enziguiri, superkicks Wyatt, but comes off the top rope right into an RKO from Orton, and Wyatt covers Rollins for 3.

Seth Rollins is eliminated.

Roman is by himself now against Orton and Wyatt, with Harper on the floor.  Reigns Superman punces Orton off the apron and takes Wyatt out to the floor, and he fights both men off and rams Wyatt into the barricade, then hits him with a drive-by.  Reigns spears Harper, comes back into the ring, blocks Sister Abigail, hits Wyatt with a Superman punch, and sets for the spear.  Orton shoves Wyatt out of the way and eats the spear, and Wyatt quickly hits Sister Abigail and covers for 3.

Winners: Team Smackdown

Survivors: Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton

Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring.

Seth appreciates the reaction to his return to Raw.

He wants to know if the people of Baltimore are going to let him talk.  He says it has been 200 days since he left.  He has been thinking about stepping inside his ring once again.  Seth says unless you are living under a rock, he is back.  For seven months, he has waited to come back to win back the title he never lost.  At Extreme Rules, he fired the first shot.

We see a photo of the Pedigree by Rollins to Roman Reigns after Roman defeated AJ Styles.

Seth says he feels like the people missed him.  Seth says it was not always that way.  When he put a steel chair in Roman’s back to end the Shield, you booed him every time.  You were calling for his head every night.  When he won the WWE Championship, he says you called him the weakest WWE Champion of all time.  You were begging for people to beat him for the title, bu t no one could.  You said he hid behind the Authority.  You went against everything he earned during his title reign.

Then his knee buckled under the weight of carrying this company on his back for so freaking long.  Then he started getting tweets and comments from people saying they missed him and wanted him to come back soon.  He got flowers and so much fan mail, he did not know what to do with it.  Seth says he did not open a single letter and he put it in a garbage can and he lit it on fire.  Seth said he did not need you on his side to win the title or to defend the title.  He says he does not need them to get it back.

Seth says there is only room on the Seth Rollins bandwagon for one dude and that is him.  You weren’t there with him when he was rehabbing twice a day to get his title back.  He says that is more work he has done in the last seven months than you have in your collective lives.  Boo him or cheer him.  He is back for one thing . . . the title he never lost.  He redesigned Seth Rollins and he will take back HIS WWE World Championship.

Roman Reigns interrupts and makes his way to the ring.

Reigns enters the ring and Rollins leaves and goes to the floor.

Shane McMahon’s music plays and he shuffles his way on the stage and goes to the ring.

Shane takes a mic and he asks for Seth to come into the ring for a conversation, an adult conversation.

Shane says there is a lot of animosity between the two and it started when you turned your back on the Shield.  Then at Wrestlemania 31, you interjected yourself  into the main event to become WWE Champion, a championship you held until your injury.  He says he knows that Seth wants his title back since he did not lose it.  This match has Wrestlemania Main Event written all over it but we are not going to wait until Wrestlemania.

At Money in the Bank, Roman Reigns defends his title against Seth Rollins.

Jojo interviewed Roman Reigns about the main event. She asked whether his relationship with Dean Ambrose would ever be the same again after tonight. He said the WWE wouldn’t be the same after tonight. He said a lot of things would change after tonight. Dean showed up and agreed saying that only one of them is going to be on the road to Wrestlemania. Dean said the other one is going to be watching. Dean said he’s hitchhiked enough and wants to see what life is like in the Fast Lane. Roman said not to book that trip. Dean said he got a great deal on Priceline. Ugh. Awful. No one speaks this way. They agreed Brock was something they were going to have to deal with and then they would deal with each other.

WWE World Heavyweight championship match at Wrestlemania 32: Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns.

Lesnar went right after Ambrose and rammed him into the buckles. Reigns (who was booed upon entering) attacked Brock but ate a German suplex. Ambrose returned but was quickly displaced from the ring. Lesnar nailed another German suplex on Reigns. He was going for a third but Ambrose nailed him with a missile dropkick from behind. Lesnar nailed several shots. Ambrose got behind and went for a German but Brock broke free and sent him sailing with a belly to belly overhead suplex. Very physical early.

Brock went to the floor to go after Roman. Dean went for a dive to the floor but was caught and nailed with a suplex on the floor. It’s all Lesnar so far. Lesnar nailed another German suplex on Reigns. Lesnar nailed another. He picked up Reigns and nailed an F5 but Ambrose broke up the pinfall. Lesnar looked at him as if he was crazy for messing with Brock.

Ambrose slapped him so Lesnar lost it and drilled him with knees and suplexed him across the ring. He began drilling Dean with knees and suplexed him again. Lesnar nailed another one. Dean tried to crawl away but was powered up and suplexed over again. Lesnar went for an F5 but Reigns speared him for a close two count. They shot the sequence in a way that made it seem Roman came out of nowhere to make it a bigger shock. Nice.

Roman nailed the Superman Punch but Lesnar rolled out of the ring from the force of the move. Roman charged across the floor and leapt off the stairs but Lesnar caught him on his shoulders. The best laid plans of mice and men, indeed. He went for a F5 onto the announcer’s table but Ambrose nailed a low blow. Dean ripped apart the announcers’ table and they set up for the old Shield powerbomb through a table. The crowd loved that.

Dean and Ambrose had words and Dean kicked him and threw Roman into the stairs. He tossed Roman into the ring and attacked him and nailed a running bulldog. Ambrose went to the top and nailed a flying elbow for a two count. Roman came back with several rights. Dean fired back with shots of his own. They brawled in the center of the ring. Dean nailed the McGuinnness rebound lariat as Lesnar returned to his senses on the floor.

Roman and Dean both realize Lesnar is stirring so they give up their battle and go back to attacking him, sending him through the barricade. They begin to clear off another announcing table. They do the Shield powerbomb on Brock again. They buried Brock in the remnants of the tables.

Roman then drilled Dean with a right hand, giving him a receipt from earlier. They returned to the ring, only this time Roman was working all over him. Roman used a roll-through into a powerbomb but Dean escaped with a series of elbows. He came off the top but ended up on the wrong end of a Superman Punch. He went for a spear but was kneed in the face. He went for a charge in the corner but Dean moved and Roman hit the ringpost. Ambrose nailed Dirty Deeds and scored a CLOSE two count.

Both men were down and Dean pointed at the Wrestlemania sign. The crowd chanted, “This is awesome.” He went fo Dirty Deeds again but Roman pulled him up for a Samoan Drop. Lesnar hit the ring and nailed a German suplex on Roman, who was holding Dean. Pretty wild stuff.

Roman speared Lesnar but was trapped in the Kimura. Roman fought to his feet and stood up but was still trapped. Ambrose returned with a chair and beat the hell out of Lesnar’s back with it, then turned to Roman and began beating him with the chair as well. He ran Lesnar out of the ring but Roman speared him and scored the pin.

Your winner, Roman Reigns!

A hell of a physical main event with all sorts of great brawling, spots and near falls. This was truly a main event as it was the best thing on the show and the crowd was into everything and everyone involved. Dean Ambrose absolutely took a big step forward with his fearlessness against Lesnar and his willingness to attack his “brother” Roman. The crowd loved him tonight and I hope WWE realizes that.

Triple H came out in his suit wearing the WWE championship belt over his shoulder. They faced off in the ring to close the show.

The 859th edition of WWE Thursday Night SmackDown came to you from the FedExForum in Memphis, TN. After RAW concluded with Brock Lesnar leveling his ‘brother’ Dean Ambrose with the F-5 in the middle of the ring and with the Triple Threat Match to determine the #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania quickly approaching, Roman Reigns would be in action on SmackDown as Reigns would go one-on-one with “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev.

With Fastlane just a few weeks away where he, along with his ‘brother’ Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar, will compete in a Triple Threat Match to determine the #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, SmackDown kicks off with Roman Reigns as Roman would go one-on-one with “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev, with his League of Nations brethren King Barrett & Alberto Del Rio in his corner. During the match, Roman Reigns had Rusev right where he wanted him as he sized “The Bulgarian Brute” up for the Superman Punch, but that is when King Barrett & Alberto Del Rio would get involved, pulling Reigns out of the ring for the disqualification. Del Rio then throws Reigns into the barricade before Dean Ambrose rushes out to make the save and, after taking it to Rusev, the Intercontinental Champion would dive off of the ring apron, but Barrett & Del Rio would move out of the way and Ambrose would inadvertently strike Reigns! Del Rio then levels Ambrose with a kick to the face before Ambrose is rolled back into the ring where Rusev locks the Accolade in on the Intercontinental Champion. Reigns then storms the ring with a steel chair and The League of Nations makes a quick exit from the ring.

JoJo is in the interview area with Roman Reigns. She asks him about the miscommunication they had earlier and if it will affect their match. Roman says they are never on the same page. He says that Dean is crazy and Roman digs that. They have their own styles. That was an accident earlier. At Fastlane, it won’t be an accident, it will be serious. Tonight, they will ride together and fight together. They will also win together, believe that. Then it was time for the main event as, after a battle earlier in the night, Roman Reigns would team with his ‘brother’ Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose to face League of Nations’ members Rusev & Alberto Del Rio, with King Barrett in their corner. During the match, Alberto Del Rio would have Roman Reigns on the outside and Dean Ambrose would go for a dive to take out Del Rio, but King Barrett would pull Del Rio out of the way and Ambrose would nearly take Roman out again. The confrontation between Reigns and Ambrose would then be interrupted when Reigns drops a charging Rusev with the Superman Punch. Roman then rolls Rusev back into the ring, connecting with the Spear and pinning Rusev to pick up the win for himself and Ambrose. Reigns & Ambrose then stand tall in the ring, managing to remain on a unified front despite a couple of inadvertent incidents.

Backstage, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose are waiting in The Authority’s office next to a glass case that houses the WWE World Heavyweight Title belt. WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon then enters the office, saying that Roman Reigns knows what it’s like to have the opportunity to be on the grand stage of WrestleMania, challenging for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Roman responds by saying that, after Fastlane, either he or Ambrose will be a whole lot closer to the title. Stephanie then says that “absolute power corrupts absolutely” before saying that she doesn’t know how much longer Dean Ambrose wants to be referred to as “Roman Reigns’ sidekick”. Reigns and Ambrose appear to see right through Stephanie’s manipulative tactics before Stephanie says that they will see how “united” they are when they team up in the main event against The New Day, saying that, “one way or another”, they will be “divided” and they will “fall” come Fastlane.
Then it was time for the main event as Fastlane opponents and ‘brothers-in-arms’ Roman Reigns and Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose would face WWE Tag Team Champions Big E & Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods in their corner, with Brock Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman a guest on commentary. During a wild match, things would completely break down on the outside after Kofi Kingston takes Dean Ambrose down as Roman Reigns would take out Kingston. Big E then grabs Reigns and slams Roman on the announce table, but Reigns would soon return to the ring, taking Kofi out with the Superman Punch before Ambrose hits Big E with Dirty Deeds, pinning Big E to pick up the win for Reigns & Ambrose. After the match, Brock Lesnar would come out as “The Beast” would methodically make his way towards the ring, but with Reigns & Ambrose’s attention on Brock, The New Day would strike as Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods would blindside Reigns & Ambrose. In the middle of the fight, Reigns and Kofi would take their fight to the outside, taking each other out while, in the ring, “The Beast” would pick his spot as Brock Lesnar would enter the ring, grabbing Dean Ambrose and leveling the Intercontinental Champion with the F-5! Brock Lesnar then exits the ring with a smile on his face, having given Dean Ambrose his first taste of the F-5 and re-asserting his dominance three weeks before Fastlane
