AJ Styles makes his way to the ring.

AJ says he is here to set the record straight.  He is tired of Roman calling him a liar.  It is not just him.  He has heard it everywhere, even on social media.  Some think his friendship with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson is some plan to get him the WWE Title.  That is not true.  We see tweets that suggest they are.

AJ asks if this is the NEW ERA of WWE.  He says this is not new to AJ Styles.  He has headlined the Tokyo Dome in front of 60,000 people.  He has been a champion everywhere.  If you are new to him, he has proven himself everywhere.

Roman Reigns’ music plays and he makes his way not your stage or my stage, but THE Stage.  Reigns makes his way to the ring.

Roman says that AJ has headlined all over the world and won championship after championship after championship.  That does not matter unless you are winning THE Championship.  Roman and AJ are in the main event of Extreme Rules.  Roman says AJ is Phenomenal at lying.  Roman says he will be in The Usos corner tonight and wants to know if AJ will be in Gallows and Anderson’s corner.

AJ says he will be in their corner and he will be wherever Roman is until he wins the title.  AJ says that Roman is THE GUY that AJ is going to beat at Extreme Rules.

Roman asks AJ if he is going to outwrestle him.  This is the big fight.  If he wants to put AJ through a table, he can.  If he wants to send AJ through the barricade, he can.  if he wants to beat AJ within an inch of his life with a chair, he can.  It means he will beat AJ at Extreme Rules.  He knows AJ cannot win on his own so Anderson and Gallows will be out there.  The Usos will be there too.  We will see that the Bloodline is stronger than the Club.

AJ says he will use a chair on Roman’s head on Sunday.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson come to the ring but the Usos make their way into the ring with Roman and AJ.  Roman punches AJ.

Gallows tags in and Jey punches Gallows but Gallows will not be Irish whipped. Gallows with a slam. Gallows with a series of elbow drops for a near fall. Gallows with a head butt and Anderson tags in. Anderson kicks Jey. Anderson chokes Jey in the ropes. Anderson sends Jey into the turnbuckles and Anderson gets a near fall. Gallows tags back in and he connects with a leg drop and he goes for a reverse chin lock. Gallows with an uppercut but he misses a leg drop. Jimmy tags in and knocks Anderson off the apron and he punches Gallows. Jimmy with a kick and uppercut. Gallows with an Irish whip and Jimmy with an elbow and a corkscrew splash onto Gallows for a near fall. Gallows goes over the top rope when Jimmy ducks and then Jimmy with a splash off the ring steps.

Jimmy is distracted by Styles and Gallows with a punch. Reigns and Styles have some words as we go to commercial.

We are back and Jimmy with a chop to Anderson but Anderson with a clothesline and he gets a near fall. Gallows tags in and he punches Jimmy but Jimmy blocks the Kane-esque uppercut. No more count-outs. No more disqualifications. No more restarting the match to prevent a technicality from deciding the result. Just Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and whatever is at their disposal in an Extreme Rules Match at WWE Extreme Rules to decide it all.

That’s a big jump for Reigns and Styles to make considering their first title match at WWE Payback was predicated on Styles having “the match of his life” in order to unseat Reigns’ self-proclaimed status as “the guy” around these parts. But with the introduction of Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson as potential accomplices to an unwitting Styles, it quickly became clear that Reigns’ first title defense of the New Era wasn’t exactly going to be first fall to a finish.

Even so, nobody expected quite how out of hand it was going to get. Things got so messy at WWE Payback that it took several restarts of the match by both Shane and Stephanie McMahon to eventually get to a fall at all, and only when the match had mutated into a No Count-out, No Disqualification contest was Reigns able to seize his win. That’s hardly a decisive victory, though, and it was almost immediately decided among the McMahons that drastic measures would be taken to protect the return bout, so here we are with an Extreme Rules Match to show for it.

Six nights before WWE Fastlane, the 1186th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. With Fastlane coming up this Sunday, tensions are sure to be running high on RAW. After a contract signing for the Triple Threat Match at Fastlane ended with Brock Lesnar leveling Dean Ambrose with an F-5 for the second week in a row, the Intercontinental Champion would get a measure of payback later that same night when a distraction from Roman Reigns would allow Ambrose to use a low blow to bring “The Beast” down. Despite being opponents at Fastlane, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose have remained on the same page despite several close calls, but with a main event match against Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, it’s only a matter of time before the “brothers-in-arms” come to blows. Will we see these two friends collide on RAW or will Reigns and Ambrose’s friendship remain concrete heading into the Triple Threat Match this Sunday?

Before his client, Brock Lesnar, is one of the three Superstars in the Triple Threat Match at Fastlane to determine the #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, Paul Heyman would make an appearance on RAW. Heyman says that one “beast” will emerge victorious at Fastlane and challenge Triple H for the title at WrestleMania. Heyman then says that what he has to say should be said face-to-face before the advocate actually calls out Roman Reigns. Roman would then make his way through the crowd, joining Heyman in the ring. Heyman then shakes Roman’s hand, thanking Roman for coming out to the ring, saying that he has the “utmost respect” for Reigns.

Heyman then says that he feels that neither Reigns or Ambrose or the two of them combined can get past Brock Lesnar before saying that Roman’s dream is to ultimately beat Triple H in the main event of WrestleMania to regain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and go home to his wife and daughter as a champion. Heyman continues, saying that, in addition to Brock Lesnar, Dean Ambrose also stands in Roman’s way, saying that Reigns has to choose between his best friend or his daughter because he can’t have them both. Heyman then says that there are those in the wrestling business who choose friends over family and those are the ones who end up in “divorce court” and there are those who choose family over friendship and those are the ones who sit alone in the back.

Heyman continues, saying that those who choose family over friends are also the ones who stand alone in the middle of the ring at the end of WrestleMania as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Heyman then says that, this Sunday, Brock Lesnar is Roman’s enemy, but so is Dean Ambrose. Reigns responds by thanking Heyman, saying that it’s “refreshing” to hear a man’s honest opinion face-to-face before saying that he is willing to “pay the price” every single night and Ambrose is willing to do the same. Roman then says that he’s defeated Ambrose before and it was one of the toughest things he’s ever had to do, but he’s never beaten Brock Lesnar before. Reigns continues, saying that he is going to win at Fastlane and he is going to beat Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania and now he knows that Heyman believes that.

The two men then shake hands again before Heyman backs away and exits the ring, but as soon as Heyman exits the ring, Reigns is blindsided by The Dudley Boyz! Roman briefly fights back against Bubba Ray & D-Von, but The Dudley Boyz overwhelm Roman before Dean Ambrose makes the save. With the odds now even, Reigns & Ambrose fight off The Dudley Boyz with Reigns taking D-Von down with the Superman Punch. Reigns & Ambrose then stand tall in the ring as referees rush out to keep The Dudley Boyz away from the ring. The “brothers-in-arms” then embrace in the ring before Ambrose actually tries to cheap shot Reigns with Dirty Deeds, but Roman wiggles free, initially looking shocked before both men smile, keeping a close eye on each other.

Stephanie McMahon is in the ring and there is black carpet and a contract signing table. Stephanie welcomes us to Raw. She says we are moments away from the official contract signing for the main event of Fastlane where the winner will face her husband, Triple H at Wrestlemania.

Stephanie has to stop due to the Daniel Bryan chants. Stephanie says the people of Seattle are confused because the winner of the main event of Fastlane will face her husband, the Game, the Cerebral Assassin, the fourteen time WWE Champion Triple H.

Only the WWE has the lunatic fringe versus the Roman Empire versus The Beast Incarnate. It will be Dean Ambrose versus Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar.

Dean Ambrose thinks that Stephanie is the Miz so his music interrupts Stephanie.

Dean asks if we could cut to the chase and get this contract signing over with because he has some unfinished business with that gorilla Brock Lesnar.

Stephanie says that Dean does not tell her what to do. She says that there will be no physicality.

Roman Reigns’ music interrupts Stephanie as well and he makes his way to the ring.

Roman says it is time to sign on the dotted line so his friend can punch Brock Lesnar.

Stephanie points out how Roman always steals Dean’s spotlight. Stephanie is actually able to introduce Brock without any interruption.

Brock does the Brock Bounce on the stage and then he makes his way to the ring with Paul Heyman.

Paul introduces himself and his client as they stand on the other side of the table from Dean and Roman, but Stephanie jumps in on the interruption train and stops Paul from doing the full introduction for himself and his client.

Dean signs the contract first. He is followed by Roman who signs it just as fast. Brock signs the contract so the contract signing is over and Stephanie leaves the ring.

Paul tells little brother to ask big brother Samoan badass the difference between a beat down by the Authority and an authoritative beat down at the hands of BROCK LESNAR.

Brock tells Dean or Roman to bring it and Paul leaves the ring.

Dean walks around the table and he bumps Brock and then Brock throws Ambrose over the table. Brock throws the table at Reigns and then he hits an F-5 on Ambrose.

Triple H comes out and Stephanie claps next to him while Paul and Brock stand on the ramp.

Dean and Roman walk in the back and Dean screams. He swears to God that before this night is over, he is going to get Brock Lesnar. Roman nods in agreement.

Dean Ambrose is still in the hall and Roman Reigns stops by. Dean tells Roman it does not matter what Brock does to him, he is getting a piece of him.

Roman says he is not talking him out of anything. He reminds Dean he got hit by a table.

Dean says he does not need help from Roman. Dean says Brock is his tonight.

Roman tells Dean to give him hell and save him some.

Dean Ambrose makes his way to the ring and wants to know what it was that Brock gave him earlier. Was it an F-2 or an F-3 because an F-5 is supposed to hurt. Brock Lesnar cannot keep him down and cannot get the job done. He tells Brock to come out and try again, but this time put some stank on it.

Dean says maybe Triple H was right and Suplex City is going soft. Or is that a personal thing too? Can you get it up for the big fight? Dean says that maybe Paul didn’t give you permission. He knows that Paul is his advocate, but he did not know that Paul was required to hold Brock’s balls.

Brock’s music plays and he makes his way to the stage with Paul Heyman.

Ambrose tries to attack Lesnar on the floor but Brock stops him and sends him into the apron. Brock with knees to Ambrose followed by an Irish whip into the ringside barrier. Brock sends Dean into the ring and then Brock paces on the floor before entering the ring and connecting with a clothesline.

Dean struggles to get to his feet and he moves towards Brock but Brock with a clothesline. Brock picks up Ambrose and hits an F-5 on Ambrose.

Brock leaves the ring but Ambrose wants Brock to give him more.

Brock defies the music and he goes to the ring and . . .

Roman Reigns’ music plays and Brock stands around waiting for Roman to make his way on the stage. Roman walks at a casual pace to the ring and Brock forgets that Dean is in the ring, no matter how battered he is.

Ambrose with a low blow and Roman smirks. Ambrose leaves the ring.

Ambrose lays down next to Reigns and Reigns says that Ambrose is crazy.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a look at what happened when Brock Lesnar had Dean Ambrose battered and beaten until Roman Reigns appeared and allowed Brock to lose his focus and give Dean the chance to hit a low blow.

For 28 years, Superstars have become legends and unforgettable moments have been etched in time as every competitor one day hopes to be in the main event of WrestleMania and that path to stardom begins at the Royal Rumble as the 29th annual WWE Royal Rumble came to you, live on the WWE Network, from the Amway Center in Orlando, FL. Throughout a nearly thirty-year tenure, WWE’s “Big Four” mainstay has produced some of the biggest Superstars and most memorable moments in WWE history from the winner of the first ever Royal Rumble Match, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, to last year’s Rumble winner, Roman Reigns, bolstering such names as Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Triple H, Batista, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Edge, John Cena, and three-time winner Stone Cold Steve Austin as those who have paved their own road to greatness on the grand stage of WrestleMania.

However, this year’s Royal Rumble Match would be much different than what the aforementioned gladiators had to go through as this year’s 30-man melee would be contested for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as, for the first time in history, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be an official participant in the Royal Rumble Match with his championship being placed on the line. As if this did not stack the deck enough against reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion and last year’s Rumble winner Roman Reigns, the proud champion would be forced to enter the match as the #1 entrant, meaning that Roman will have to outlast 29 other Superstars to hang onto the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Roman Reigns will face bigger odds than any champion that has come before him as Reigns will have to contend with the likes of nine-time former World Champion and Royal Rumble Match veteran Chris Jericho, the entirety of the dominant, unforgiving, and seemingly unstoppable Wyatt Family, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, and the man who Roman Reigns collided with at last year’s WrestleMania, “The Beast” Brock Lesnar!

Those aforementioned names are just the Superstars that Roman Reigns will know he will have to contend with as, in what has become a Royal Rumble tradition, there could be any number of surprise entrants into this year’s Royal Rumble Match. While it definitely appears to be a “One Versus All” situation for the champion, one cannot forget that the Royal Rumble Match is every man for himself and only one Superstar can walk out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, meaning that alliances are fragile and a Superstar could betray a friend or a family member at any given time, all in the name of the top prize in WWE, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Who will win this year’s Royal Rumble Match and who will walk out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion? Can Roman Reigns continue to do what he has done?

Can Roman Reigns continue to do what he has done

Six nights before the Royal Rumble, the 1182nd edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH. After making his emphatic return to RAW last week where he took out several WWE Superstars before flattening WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns with the F-5, making it clear that, after The McMahons turned down his request for a guaranteed spot in the main event of WrestleMania for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, he would enter the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match and take the championship by force, “The Beast” would be on RAW as Brock Lesnar, along with his advocate Paul Heyman, would be guests on Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel! With the knowledge that Jericho is also one of the 30 men who will be competing in the Royal Rumble Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday, will Brock Lesnar be looking to make another statement, this time at the expense of “Y2J”? What will WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns have to say about his run-in with “The Beast” last week? Will we see another confrontation between Reigns and Lesnar on the last RAW before the Royal Rumble?

After getting laid out with the F-5 by Brock Lesnar on last week’s RAW, RAW kicks off with the man who will be forced to put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line in the Royal Rumble Match this Sunday night, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. The champion says that he will be the first Superstar in history to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the Royal Rumble Match. Roman then says that, tonight, there’s one man he cares about and that is Brock Lesnar before the champion calls out “The Beast”.

However, Roman does not get Lesnar as, instead, he gets another Royal Rumble Match participant as Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring. Reigns says that he’s glad that Jericho is back, but Jericho is not Brock Lesnar and that is who he wants in the ring right now. Jericho says that Lesnar will be in the ring later in the night when “The Beast” is a guest on The Highlight Reel. Jericho then says that he has a “proposition” for the champion, suggesting that they have three of the favorites to win the Royal Rumble Match in the ring at the same time, inviting Roman Reigns to be a guest on The Highlight Reel in addition to Brock Lesnar. The champion gladly accepts this invite, saying that if Lesnar is going to be there, then he will be there.

The League of Nations then interrupt the proceedings as Sheamus, Rusev, King Barrett, & United States Champion Alberto Del Rio come out to the stage. Sheamus asks when the Royal Rumble Match became about Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar, saying that there are 28 other competitors in the Royal Rumble Match, including The League of Nations. Sheamus then says that one of them intends on taking back what is theirs and that is the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Sheamus then asks how Jericho can have The Highlight Reel featuring the favorites to win the Rumble and not include The League of Nations, calling the decision “stupid”. Jericho says that he doesn’t want Sheamus on The Highlight Reel because he wants the show to be “entertaining”. Del Rio then speaks up, saying that Jericho would not understand because he’s never won a Royal Rumble Match. The United States Champion then reminds everyone that he won the biggest Royal Rumble Match in history, saying that if anyone deserves to be on The Highlight Reel, it’s him. Jericho responds by saying that he just doesn’t feel like having Del Rio on The Highlight Reel.

Rusev then steps up, saying that, in Bulgaria, every day is a “rumble”, saying that his trainer used to throw a steak in the middle of the ring so he could “fight to eat”. Rusev then says that it doesn’t matter how many Superstars there are in the Rumble because one of them is going to win. Jericho then reminds Rusev that Roman Reigns won the Rumble last year and the competitor he eliminated last was none other than “The Bulgarian Brute” himself. Jericho then says that, when it matters, Rusev “comes up just a little short”. An irate Rusev begins to shout at Roman Reigns, but the champion cuts him off, saying that he’s not meeting up with Brock Lesnar until later in the evening, challenging Rusev to a one-on-one match right now! Rusev’s League of Nations cohorts then accompany Rusev to the ring so Jericho adds the stipulation that he will be the Special Referee for the match!

The opening match of the night would be an impromptu match as WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns would go one-on-one with “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev, with his League of Nations cohorts Sheamus, King Barrett, & Alberto Del Rio in his corner, and Chris Jericho serving as the Special Referee. During the match, Roman Reigns would size Rusev up for the Superman Punch, but Alberto Del Rio would get on the ring apron, distracting Chris Jericho while Sheamus pulls Reigns out of the ring, tossing him into the barricade. Jericho then turns around to see Sheamus standing over Roman and the Special Referee would put the pieces together and Jericho would eject Sheamus from ringside! Jericho would then get back into the ring to officiate, but King Barrett would get on the ring apron, arguing with Jericho, so the referee would eject Barrett as well! Del Rio then makes the same mistake that King Barrett made and, as a result, gets the same treatment as the United States Champion is eject as well! Behind Jericho’s back, Rusev was sizing up the Special Referee, but Reigns would intervene, catching Rusev with the Superman Punch and following it up with the Spear, pinning Rusev for the win.

WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon and his daughter, WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon, would then make a special appearance on RAW as The McMahons would spin the tumbler to reveal who will enter this Sunday’s Royal Rumble Match at the unenviable #1 spot. Stephanie says that, to defeat 29 other competitors, it takes “strength” and a “lot of luck” and Mr. McMahon chimes in, saying that he won the Royal Rumble Match in 1999 and that was “no luck”. Stephanie responds by calling her father an “unbelievable human specimen”. Flattered, the Chairman suggests that they find out who will be entering the Rumble Match at #1. Stephanie then spins the tumbler before Mr. McMahon reaches in to grab a name. However, the container holding the name would not open so the Chairman would grab a second ball and, after not being able to open that one either, McMahon has his daughter open it as Stephanie does so with ease.

Unsurprisingly, Stephanie reveals that the name they pulled out of the tumbler was none other than “Roman Reigns”. The Chairman admits that it might be quite the “coincidence”, suggesting they do the whole thing over. Stephanie then puts the ball back in the tumbler before spinning it again. McMahon would then pull another container, but the same problem would persist as the Chairman was unable to open any of the containers and would try a couple of them before again having Stephanie do the honors. The ruse then becomes clear as Stephanie again reveals the name to be “Roman Reigns”. The tumbler is then spun again and, this time, McMahon is able to open the container with Stephanie predictably pulling Roman Reigns’ name for a third time. The Chairman then announces that Roman Reigns will be entering the Rumble Match at #1, but, after this Sunday, Roman will no longer be #1 in WWE.

Then it was time for potentially the biggest edition of The Highlight Reel in WWE history as Chris Jericho would welcome his guests, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and “The Beast” Brock Lesnar. Before introducing his guests, Chris Jericho says that the top three favorites to win the Royal Rumble Match will all be in the ring at the same time. However, before Jericho can do the proper introductions, he is interrupted by Brock Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman. Jericho impatiently asks Heyman about his client’s whereabouts with Heyman assuring Jericho that “The Beast” will be there.

Heyman then reminds Jericho of his last run-in with Brock Lesnar, but Heyman says that Lesnar is not focused on Jericho tonight, he is focused on WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. Jericho then brings up Heyman’s failure to get Lesnar his desired main event spot at WrestleMania without having to enter the Royal Rumble Match. Jericho continues, saying that Brock is a “conqueror” and is, probably, the most “physically dominating performer” in WWE history. Jericho then suggests that Lesnar has made a lot of “enemies” and a lot of those enemies will likely be gunning for Lesnar in the Royal Rumble Match. Jericho then asks the advocate if Heyman tried to get Brock to WrestleMania without having to compete in the Royal Rumble Match because Heyman doesn’t like Brock’s “chances” in the Rumble.

Heyman laughs off the accusation, saying that, at last year’s WrestleMania, Lesnar was never pinned or made to submit to lose the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and, in his mind, this fact should have entitled Lesnar to a championship match at this year’s WrestleMania. Heyman continues, saying that, in addition to The Authority’s “intended victim” Roman Reigns, there are 28 other participants in the Royal Rumble Match, but there will be only one “Beast”. Heyman then says that Brock Lesnar will fight whoever is put in front of him and he will eliminate all of them, saying that Lesnar will turn the Royal Rumble into “Suplex City”. Jericho then closes in on Paul Heyman, asking what would happen if it came down to himself and Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble and what would happen if he throws Lesnar over the top rope to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

This brings out the first of Jericho’s two guests on The Highlight Reel as “The Beast” Brock Lesnar makes his way to the ring. In signature Brock Lesnar fashion, “The Beast” would walk around the ring, but before Lesnar can enter the ring, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns interrupts. The champion quickly makes his way through the crowd as Reigns joins Jericho in the ring, both men keeping a close eye on Brock Lesnar. Roman then symbolically lays the WWE World Heavyweight Title belt down in the ring before “The Beast” enters the ring.

However, as soon as Brock Lesnar steps foot in the ring, he is blasted with a Spear from Reigns! The champion then begins to deliver right hands to Lesnar before The League of Nations gets involved with all four men focusing on beating down Roman Reigns. This would give Brock Lesnar the opportunity to get back to his feet as “The Beast” would first pick off Rusev, dropping “The Bulgarian Brute” with a suplex! Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio would then try to beat down Lesnar, but Brock would battle back, rattling Del Rio with a suplex before planting Sheamus with the F-5 before Lesnar turns right around into another Spear from Roman Reigns!

With Roman the only one able in the ring, The Wyatt Family would appear, surrounding the champion on all sides. Roman would try his best to fight the odds, but a Discus Clothesline from Luke Harper would put Reigns down. Bray Wyatt then picks Reigns up, dropping the champion with Sister Abigail, but The Wyatt Family then turns their attention to a recovering Brock Lesnar. At the orders of Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper would catch Brock with a big boot, followed with a spinning heel kick from Erick Rowan and a big clothesline from Braun Strowman. Harper & Rowan then pick Lesnar for their leader before Bray Wyatt grabs “The Beast”, planting Brock face-first with Sister Abigail! Bray then screams that the Royal Rumble is his before kneeling next to the downed Brock Lesnar and shouting “follow the buzzards”!
