We’re live from Portland as Michael Cole welcomes us. He’s joined by Corey Graves and Byron Saxton.

We go right to the ring and RAW General Manager Mick Foley waits with RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon. The ring is set up for a contract signing. Foley welcomes us but he doesn’t seem happy. He hopes Triple H agrees with this because he does not. Foley welcomes Samoa Joe and out he comes in a suit.

Stephanie says Mick must be under the weather or something. She re-introduces Joe, calling him the hottest free agent of the new era. Stephanie hypes Joe up and he gets a mixed reaction. Stephanie wonders why Foley is against Joe coming in. Stephanie insults Foley again. Foley says he’s been a big fan of Joe, he just doesn’t agree with how he came in or the people he’s associating himself with. Stephanie steps to the side and Joe takes the mic.

Joe says it took him 18 years to be standing in this ring right now. Joe says in those 18 years, when Foley claims to be such a big fan, only one man opened the door and gave him an opportunity, and if loyalty to that man means coming out and putting Seth Rollins on the shelf – so be it. Joe puts the whole RAW locker room on notice: he will come out night after night, he will beat up our heroes, choke them out and beat them up again when they wake up. Joe says The Destroyer has arrived and there’s nothing we can do about it. Joe signs his RAW contract. Foley offers a handshake but the music hits and out comes Roman Reigns to a much more mixed reaction.

Reigns says Joe is out here talking tough and making threats. Reigns tells Joe to threaten him now that he’s out here. Reigns says they’ve never met. He formally introduces himself and says he’s the baddest man to step foot in WWE. The moment Joe signed his contract, he’s in Reigns’ yard. Reigns says Joe can either shut his mouth or get it caved in. Foley rants about how he’s still the General Manager and his loyalty is to the fans. Foley makes Joe vs. Reigns for tonight’s main event. Joe and Reigns face off as Stephanie gets in between them. Reigns’ music hits as Joe leaves first with Stephanie right beside him.

Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns

We go to the ring and out comes Roman Reigns for tonight’s main event. Reigns makes his way down the ramp when Samoa Joe attacks from behind. Joe beats Reigns to ringside and sends him into the barrier. Joe drops Reigns with a clothesline. Joe slams Reigns into the apron as the referee looks on from the ring. Joe continues the beatdown on Reigns and rolls into the ring to some boos.

Joe goes back outside and sends Reigns into the ring post. Joe with a senton on the floor. Joe re-enters the ring. The referee comes out to check on Reigns. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and Reigns is standing in the corner. The referee finally calls for the bell and here we go. Joe unloads and beats Reigns down in the corner. Joe keeps control and beats Reigns around with ease.

Reigns fights back and sends Joe outside. Reigns follows and launches Joe into the barrier. Reigns brings it back into the ring and goes to work on Joe in the corner. Joe turns it around in the opposite corner and drops Reigns with a kick. Reigns eats chops from Joe. Reigns fires right back with right hands. Joe cuts him off with an elbow. Joe with a chop to the neck, kicks and an elbow drop for a 2 count. Joe keeps control and works Reigns around the ring. Joe keeps Reigns down with a knee to the spine now.

Reigns looks to make another comeback now. They trade shots in the middle of the ring. Reigns with strikes and headbutts. Reigns with a big clothesline off the ropes. More back and forth. Joe drops Reigns and hits another senton for a 2 count. Joe stalks Reigns into the corner and beats him around some more. Reigns catches Joe with a Samoan Drop out of nowhere. Reigns with a 2 count. Reigns readies for a Superman punch but Joe rolls to the floor. Reigns runs around and hits the Drive By. Reigns rolls Joe back into the ring and waits. Reigns nails a Superman punch. The music hits and out comes Braun Strowman to interrupt.

Braun marches to the ring as Reigns looks on. Reigns nails him on the apron with a right hand. Braun just eats it and stares at Reigns. Reigns with a Superman punch to knock Braun off the apron. Joe with a kick from behind to Reigns. Joe ends up catching Reigns in a suplex for the pin.

Winner: Samoa Joe

After the match, Braun looks on from ringside as Joe stands tall. We go to replays. Braun enters the ring and scoops Reigns for the running powerslam. Braun stands over Reigns before kicking him under the bottom rope. Braun follows Reigns to the floor but Reigns fights back. Braun drops him with one big blow. Reigns takes apart the steel steps and waits for Reigns to get up. Braun runs and smacks Reigns in the face with the steps. Braun yells and tosses the steps before going back after Reigns. Braun scoops Reigns and hits a big running powerslam through the barrier. Referees check on Reigns and warn Braun to back off as RAW goes off the air.

WWE Universal Title Match: Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens

Back from the break and out comes WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens. Chris Jericho stops and joins the announcers but says he has a plan and a strategy to help his best friend. Braun Strowman is out next.

Braun immediately floors Jericho at the announce table with a big boot. Owens looks on horrified. Braun grabs Jericho and chokeslams him through the announce table. Owens can’t believe it. Braun marches to the ring now.

Braun enters the ring and we get formal ring introductions from JoJo. We see Jericho being taken to the back by trainers. The bell rings and Owens goes right to the floor. Braun chases him back in the ring. Owens decks him with rights but Owens pushes him away. Owens dropkicks Braun off the apron. He runs right back in and drops Owens. Braun works Owens over in the corner and whips him into another corner.

Braun with two big splashes in the corners. Braun stands tall to a mixed reaction. Owens goes to the floor for a breather but Braun knocks him into the barrier. Braun brings it back into the ring but Owens fights back. Braun with a clubbing blow to the chest, sending Owens back to the mat. They end up on the floor again and Braun goes into the ring post. Owens with a cannonball against the barrier. Owens returns to the ring as the referee counts. Braun makes it back in. Owens with a leg drop to the back of the neck and a senton. Owens with a Frogsplash for a 2 count. Owens with a kick to the face but Braun doesn’t go down. Owens goes to the top but Braun grabs him for a running powerslam. Roman Reigns’ music hits and out he comes to a louder mixed reaction.

Braun watches and yells as Reigns walks to the ring. Reigns steps up on the apron and they stare each other down. Reigns enters the ring and nails a Superman punch for the disqualification.

Winner by DQ: Braun Strowman

After the bell, Braun just gets angry at the Superman punch. Reigns clotheslines him to the floor but he’s still standing. Reigns goes out and jumps off the steel steps with a punch but Braun is still standing. Reigns with a spear off the steel steps to take Braun down. Reigns returns to the ring to spear Owens as he turns around. Fans boo as Reigns leaves to his music playing. Braun gets up and looks on before Reigns can make it to the stage as we go to replays. Braun makes his exit as Owens is down on the mat with the title.

Since Kevin Owens won the WWE Universal Championship back in August, Owens has had a very helpful best friend in the form of Chris Jericho, who has repeatedly helped Owens retain the WWE Universal Title no matter the stipulation put in place. This would lead to an interesting idea from the mind of RAW General Manager Mick Foley, who announced that, at the Royal Rumble, Kevin Owens would defend the WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns, but to ensure that Chris Jericho would not get involved, Jericho will be locked in a shark cage that will be suspended high above the ring! Not only that, but Kevin Owens found out this past Monday night on RAW that the title match will also have no disqualifications! With Chris Jericho’s presence in the shark cage keeping the match truly one-on-one, can Kevin Owens prove the naysayers wrong and keep the WWE Universal Title without the help of Chris Jericho or will Roman Reigns beat Owens for the WWE Universal Title and prove that Owens needs Jericho to remain champion?

Then it was time for the WWE Universal Championship to be defended in a unique match as Kevin Owens would defend the WWE Universal Title against Roman Reigns with Owens’ best friend Chris Jericho locked in a shark cage that will be suspended high above the ring in a match that will also have no disqualifications! Before the match begins, Chris Jericho would have to be locked in the shark cage, but Jericho would refuse as Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho would double team Roman Reigns before Roman fights back, sending Owens out of the ring before sending Jericho face-first into the steel shark cage. Reigns then tosses Jericho into the shark cage and locking it shut and, as the United States Champion is raised above the ring in his prison, the title match officially gets underway.

Early on in the match, Owens and Reigns would take full advantage of the no disqualification rule as the two would fight through the crowd before returning to ringside. This is when Kevin Owens would pull several steel chairs out from under the ring, using one of the chairs on the challenger before setting up several chairs into a pyramid on the outside. Owens then brings Reigns up to the ring apron with the intent of powerbombing the challenger through the steel pyramid, but Roman would counter. Roman then tries to suplex Owens through the stack of chairs but the champion avoids such a fate. Reigns then gets back into the ring, taking Owens down before sending the champion shoulder-first into the ring post.

Roman Reigns then grabs a table from under the ring, trying to set up the table in the ring but Kevin Owens intervenes before folding the table back up and sliding it to the outside. The fight would then continue on the outside with Roman Reigns setting up a table, but Kevin Owens would deliver a pair of kicks to the challenger that leaves Roman lying on the table. Owens then heads to the top rope, diving off with a big frog splash to Roman Reigns, sending the challenger crashing through the table to the floor! Owens then brings Roman back into the ring, going for the pin, but Reigns kicks out. The champion then grabs a steel chair, using the chair to try and weaken Reigns as Chris Jericho cheers Kevin Owens on from above the ring.

After wedging the steel chair in the corner, Owens would send Reigns face-first into the chair, but when this fails to put the challenger away, Chris Jericho pulls brass knuckles out, dropping them to Kevin Owens and the champion would use the knuckles for his own version of the Superman Punch, blasting Reigns with the knuckles, but Roman kicks out again! Owens then looks for a powerbomb on an open steel chair but Reigns would counter with a Samoan Drop onto the steel chair, but the champion is able to kick out.

Roman Reigns then pulls another table out from under the ring, sliding the table into the ring and propping the table up in the corner. Roman then connects with the Superman Punch to the champion with Kevin Owens kicking out. With the table in position, Roman Reigns would go for the Spear to Kevin Owens through the table, but Owens would counter with a Stone Cold Stunner! After Roman kicks out, Owens stomps a mud hole in Roman Reigns in the corner before squashing Reigns in the corner with the Cannonball. The champion then brings Roman to the top rope with the intention of delivering a superplex to the challenger through the pyramid of chairs, but Reigns fights out before catching Owens with the Superman Punch, knocking Owens off of his perch through the pyramid of steel chairs on the outside!

However, instead of bringing the champion back into the ring, Roman Reigns would expose the announce table at ringside, hoisting Owens up and sending the champion crashing through the table with a vicious powerbomb! Roman would then bring Owens back into the ring, sizing the champion up for the Spear, but this is when Braun Strowman would emerge! “The Monster Among Men” would pull Roman Reigns out of the ring, delivering a chokeslam to Roman Reigns on the German announce table before Braun brings Reigns into the ring, using his running powerslam to drive Roman through the table in the corner, allowing Owens to pin Roman to successfully retain the WWE Universal Title in a hellacious match!

Then it was time for the namesake of the legendary Royal Rumble event as, for the 30th year in a row, WWE would present the most unpredictable match of the year as the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match would determine who will challenge for either the WWE Championship or the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania. In the Royal Rumble Match, two randomly drawn Superstars would start the match and, every two minutes, another randomly drawn Superstar would join the match and this trend would continue until 30 Superstars have entered the Royal Rumble Match with elimination occurring when a Superstar is thrown over the top rope with both feet touching the floor and the last man remaining would win the Royal Rumble Match and earn himself a shot at either the WWE Championship or the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania.

The unenviable #1 entry into the 2017 Royal Rumble Match would be entering his very first Royal Rumble Match as Big Cass would make his way to the ring, but not before Big Cass and his tag team partner Enzo Amore address the San Antonio fans. Big Cass would be joined in starting the match by the #2 entrant in the Royal Rumble Match, United States Champion and Royal Rumble Match veteran Chris Jericho. As Big Cass takes Chris Jericho down with a big boot in the ring, the #3 entrant would arrive in the Royal Rumble Match as “The Lucha Dragon” Kalisto makes his Royal Rumble Match debut. The most hyped Superstar in the Royal Rumble Match would then make his entry at #4 as Mojo Rawley would join Big Cass, Chris Jericho, and Kalisto in the Rumble.

In at #5 was “Gentleman” Jack Gallagher, who would use his umbrella to take control in the match, even using the umbrella to low blow Chris Jericho. The ring would then continue to fill up with the #6 entrant as, in his home state of Texas, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry would march to the ring. Mark Henry would immediately make an impact on the match, tossing his fellow Rumble entrants around the ring. Jack Gallagher would then try to use his umbrella to fly to take out Mark Henry, but “The World’s Strongest Man” would catch Gallagher, tossing Gallagher over the top rope to elimination.

The monsters then keep on coming with “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman entering at #7. Strowman would immediately make his presence felt as Braun tosses out Mojo Rawley and Big Cass before throwing Kalisto over the top rope to the outside, eliminating three men before coming face-to-face with Mark Henry. Strowman is then able to send Henry over the top rope, knocking “The World’s Strongest Man” to the floor to eliminate the Texan. Braun would then be met with a familiar foe at #8 as Sami Zayn enters the Royal Rumble Match. One of the few Superstars capable of taking it to Braun Strowman would then enter at #9 as “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show enters the Royal Rumble Match, coming face-to-face with Braun Strowman.

Big Show is actually able to chokeslam Braun Strowman before leveling Chris Jericho with the Knockout Punch. Strowman then gets back to his feet as Braun and Big Show battle to eliminate the other with Braun able to teeter Big Show over the top rope to elimination. The #10 entrant would then make an unexpected appearance as NXT star “The Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger would make his Royal Rumble debut! In at #11 was James Ellsworth, who would refuse to enter the ring to face Braun Strowman. Sami Zayn and Tye Dillinger would try to work together to eliminate Braun, but Strowman would stay in the match.

With James Ellsworth still not in the ring, Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose would enter the Royal Rumble Match at #12 and Ambrose would trick James Ellsworth into entering the ring. Braun Strowman would make quick work of James Ellsworth, hurling Ellsworth over the top rope to the outside. “The Lone Wolf” would then enter his first Royal Rumble Match as Baron Corbin enters at #13. Braun Strowman would then score his seventh elimination, tossing Tye Dillinger over the top rope to the outside. Dean Ambrose, Baron Corbin, and Sami Zayn would then get on the same page, working together to eliminate Braun Strowman as Sami Zayn hits the Helluva Kick, allowing Baron Corbin to eliminate “The Monster Among Men”.

The first of the three New Day members would then enter the Royal Rumble Match as Rumble highlight reel Kofi Kingston enters at #14. At the halfway point of the Royal Rumble Match, The Miz would enter the fray at #15. Kofi Kingston then finds himself able to hang on to the ring post to avoid elimination before #16 rushes to the ring as “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus arrives in the Royal Rumble Match. Sheamus takes over in the match, hitting Chris Jericho with the Brogue Kick as Jericho weakly rolls to the outside again. The second member of The New Day would then enter at #17 as Big E joins teammate Kofi Kingston in the Royal Rumble Match.

The #18 entrant into the Royal Rumble Match would then be “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev followed by the #19 entrant, Cesaro. With the ring getting crowded, the final member of The New Day would enter at #20 as Xavier Woods joins Big E & Kofi Kingston in the Royal Rumble Match. As The New Day works together to try and take over the Royal Rumble Match, the leader of The Wyatt Family, Bray Wyatt, enters the Royal Rumble Match at #21. In his first Royal Rumble Match, Apollo Crews would enter the Royal Rumble Match at #22. Former tag team champions Cesaro & Sheamus then manage to eliminate all three members of The New Day before Sheamus tries to eliminate his own tag team partner Cesaro with Chris Jericho taking advantage, eliminating both Cesaro & Sheamus!

A former Royal Rumble winner would then enter at #23 as Wyatt Family member Randy Orton enters the Royal Rumble Match. “The Viper” would RKO every Superstar in sight with the exception of Bray Wyatt, whom Orton helps to his feet before Dolph Ziggler comes in at #24. The third member of The Wyatt Family then enters the Royal Rumble Match as Luke Harper comes in at #25. Luke Harper is quick to eliminate Apollo Crews before Harper comes face-to-face with Randy Orton with Bray Wyatt standing in between his two Wyatt Family members. This is when Luke Harper would shock his leader by leveling Bray with a clothesline! Harper would then look to add insult to injury, going for Sister Abigail to Bray Wyatt, but Randy Orton would intervene with an RKO to Harper.

Business then picks up with the #26 entrant into the Royal Rumble Match as “The Beast” Brock Lesnar enters the Royal Rumble Match with a vengeance. Brock would toss Dean Ambrose out of the Royal Rumble Match, followed by Dolph Ziggler! “The Beast” then ravages the other entrants with suplexes and F-5’s before #27 had the unfortunate fate of coming face-to-face with “The Beast” as Enzo Amore enters the Royal Rumble Match. Brock makes quick work of Enzo, dropping Enzo with a clothesline before tossing Enzo to the outside. The #28 entrant would then paint a very intriguing picture as Goldberg would come to the ring to go face-to-face with Brock Lesnar and, much like their match at Survivor Series, Goldberg would immediately blast “The Beast” with the Spear before eliminating Brock Lesnar!

As Goldberg stands dominant in the ring, the bell would toll to signify the arrival of the #29 entrant as, ten years after winning the Royal Rumble Match, The Undertaker would appear in the ring, coming face-to-face with Goldberg! The Undertaker then grabs Goldberg by the throat before it’s broken up and Goldberg would eliminate Rusev before The Undertaker eliminates Baron Corbin! Goldberg would then hit The Undertaker with the Spear before Goldberg eliminates Luke Harper. “The Phenom” then gets to his feet before eliminating Goldberg from the Royal Rumble Match! With The Undertaker the only man left standing in the ring, #30 would be the man who was cost the WWE Universal Title by Braun Strowman earlier in the night, Roman Reigns. Roman would come face-to-face with The Undertaker with Reigns and Undertaker trading shots before “The Phenom” plants Reigns with a chokeslam.

The Undertaker then eliminates The Miz and Sami Zayn from the Royal Rumble Match before Roman Reigns is able to surprise The Undertaker and the world by eliminating The Undertaker from the Royal Rumble Match, leaving it down to Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt, & Randy Orton. After lasting over an hour in the Royal Rumble Match, a Superman Punch would eliminate Chris Jericho from the Royal Rumble Match, leaving Roman Reigns against Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton. Roman Reigns would catch both Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton with the Superman Punch before Roman eliminates Bray Wyatt. Reigns then goes for the Spear to Randy Orton, but “The Viper” counters with the RKO before Orton tosses Reigns over the top rope to the outside as Randy Orton wins the 2017 Royal Rumble Match, earning himself a shot at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania!

We are in Cleveland, Ohio and your announcers are Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves.

Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring and he is joined in the ring by the shark cage.

Roman says in six days the Royal Rumble rolls through the Alamodome and more than 40,000 people will be going nuts.  In the middle of that storm will be Chris Jericho locked in that shark cage.  That means that he is one on one with Kevin Owens.  That means he will be holding the WWE Universal Championship over his head.

Kevin Owens’ music interrupts and he makes his way to the ramp with Best friend Chris Jericho.

Kevin asks Roman if he is okay because he sounds delusional.  Maybe there is something that happened that has confused you. Last week, he did something that Roman had coming for a long time.  For years, you have been power bombing people through that announce table.  From Seth Rollins, to Kane, to John Cena, to Daniel Bryan, and even the Undertaker.  How many can say they single handedly power bombed Roman Reigns through that table.  The answer to that question is ONE.  Only one, and Kevin says he is the one.

Roman says that Kevin is about to be the one who is about to get his ass whipped in front of the world and his best friend.

Chris says that Roman is making a lot of predictions and he asks if Roman is Nostradamus.  He says that Roman is a stupid idiot. Chris says it is a laugh for Roman that he will be hanging above the ring like a salami in a deli.  What was hilarious was him hitting a Codebreaker a few weeks ago to become the United States Champion.  Chris says that even though he will be hanging above the ring at the Royal Rumble, today is not Sunday and nothing is stopping him from knocking those chiclets down your throat and teaching you another lesson.

Roman wants to know if Chris was giving him a rematch.  He says that Chris should teach him a lesson and give him a rematch tonight.

Kevin says he has this.  You want a United States title rematch tonight?  You got it.  Kevin tells Chris he is going to beat him.  He tells Roman not to plan any post match celebrations because Kevin says he has a strong feeling, maybe a psychic vision, that Roman Reigns will be in that shark cage.

Roman says he has a feeling that he is going to win the United States Title in Cleveland and he will beat Kevin at the Royal Rumble for the Universal Title.  He says he is something that Kevin will never be . . . THE GUY.

We go to commercial.

We get a look back at tonight’s RAW opening segment. Still to come, Reigns vs. Jericho for the WWE United States Title.

Jericho sends Reigns to the mat and comes off the top but gets caught with a right hand. Reigns keeps control but runs into a boot in the corner. Reigns blocks the bulldog. Jericho counters a Samoan Drop. Jericho mounts Reigns with right hands now. The referee warns him. Jericho stands tall but gets caught in a Samoan Drop for a 2 count.

Owens yells as Reigns waits for Jericho to get up. Reigns nails a spear for a pop. Reigns’ music hits as he taunts Owens and we go to replays.

Back from the break and Jericho is finally getting Owens out of the shark cage. Charly Caruso enters and reveals that Mick Foley has added a No DQ stipulation to Sunday’s WWE Universal Title Match. Owens throws a fit before his music hits and he storms off with Jericho right behind him.

We’re live from Little Rock, Arkansas after the RAW opening video. Michael Cole welcomes us. He’s joined by Corey Graves and Byron Saxton.

Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring.

We see footage from last week’s Raw when Chris Jericho became the new United States Champion.

Roman says as a former member of the Shield, he cannot complain about losing a fight when he was outnumbered.  The Shield took down everyone in sight.  He is not complaining.  He lost the United States title in a handicap match against Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho.  Roman says Kevin Owens will be complaining at the Royal Rumble because he won’t have KO helping him.  Roman says KO cannot beat him one-on-one.  No one can beat him one-on-one.  He will become the Universal Champion and be the main event at Wrestlemania.

Paul Heyman appears on the stage and he makes his way to the ring.  He says he is the calm before the storm.  There is a storm coming here.  For the first time since Survivor Series, his client, Brock Lesnar is at Raw.  That harbinger of doom, the spectre of the beast.  That sword of Damocles hangs above the ring.

Paul says he has a Royal Rumble match spoiler . . .

The crowd chants for Goldberg and Heyman stops speaking.

Paul says Goldberg . . . is not here this evening.

Paul says he has the Royal Rumble match spoiler.  This is how the match goes.  Eat . . . Sleep . . . Elimination . . . Repeat.

Roman says that Brock must be eating or sleeping because he is not in the ring with Paul.

Kevin says the Wrestlemania math does not add up, but it does not matter.  Kevin says he is the longest reigning Universal Champion in history.  After the Royal Rumble, he will still be the Universal Champion. Just like after Wrestlemania, he will be the Universal Champion, no matter who he faces.

Seth Rollins’ music plays and he comes out and he said he heard people talking about the main event of Wrestlemania, but you cannot have that discussion without Seth Rollins.  Seth says since he was on the shelf last year, there is no better way to get back into the main event than to win the Royal Rumble.  Seth tells Paul and the Big Dog that anything can happen in the main event of Wrestlemania.

Braun Strowman’s music plays and he comes to the ring.

Before Braun can say anything, Brock Lesnar makes his way to the ring after doing the Brock Bounce.

Sami Zayn attacks Braun Strowman from behind.  Roman with a Superman Punch followed by a knee from Rollins and a Helluva Kick by Zayn.

Lesnar attacks Roman and Rollins and Lesnar grabs Zayn and hits a German suplex.

Lesnar wants Strowman and Braun gets on the apron, but he returns to the floor.  Reigns with Superman punches to Lesnar, Jericho, and Owens.  Lesnar gets up and hits an F5 on Reigns. Lesnar looks down at Reigns as his music hits. Lesnar stands tall in the ring as Braun looks on from ringside. Everyone else is down trying to get up. Braun backs up the ramp as Lesnar looks on from the ring.

The announcers look back at tonight’s opening segment with Lesnar and others. Sami, Reigns and Rollins vs. Owens, Jericho and Braun is made for later tonight.

Seth says he appreciates Sami’s enthusiasm but they have been here before.

Sami throws out his fist and Roman and Seth walk away.

Throughout WWE history, only one Superstar has simultaneously held a World Title and the United States Title and that was Seth Rollins. However, at Roadblock: End of the Line, reigning United States Champion Roman Reigns would be looking to do what his former Shield teammate had done before him when Reigns challenges Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship. With the friendship between Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho seemingly no more, will Kevin Owens be able to survive on his own against Roman Reigns with the WWE Universal Title on the line or will Roman Reigns end 2016 by making history as the first Superstar in history to hold the WWE Universal Title and the United States Title at the same time?

Then it was time for the final main event of the final WWE pay-per-view of 2016 as United States Champion Roman Reigns would look to make history as Roman Reigns challenges Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship. Early on in the match, the fight would spill to the outside of the ring where Roman Reigns exposes two of the announce tables at ringside before Kevin Owens brings Reigns back into the ring. Later on in the match, Roman Reigns would go for the Superman Punch, but Kevin Owens ducks the Superman Punch, planting Reigns with a DDT. Owens then connects with the Cannonball in the corner only for the United States Champion to pop up and catch Owens with the Superman Punch, but the defending champion is able to kick out. Shortly after this, Kevin Owens would find himself on the top rope and this is when Roman catches Owens with a second Superman Punch. However, the champion manages to fight back, hitting a huge package side slam off of the top rope!

Kevin Owens then climbs back up to the top rope, looking for a swanton bomb to Roman Reigns, but Roman gets his knees up. Reigns then sizes Owens up for the Spear, but the champion rolls out of the ring. Roman then hits the Drive-By dropkick on the outside, but when Reigns goes for a second Drive-By, Owens moves out of the way before hitting the United States Champion with a super kick. Then, with Reigns lying prone on an announce table at ringside, Owens would dive off of the barricade with a frog splash to Reigns, but the table would not break so the champion would climb onto the barricade, leaping off with a second frog splash that sends Reigns crashing through the table! Roman then somehow manages to beat the ten-count back into the ring and Owens is quick to score with a third frog splash to the United States Champion, but Reigns kicks out! Owens then hits the Pop-Up Powerbomb on Roman Reigns, but Reigns is able to get his foot on the bottom rope at the last second, keeping the match alive.

Kevin Owens then exits the ring, grabbing the WWE Universal Title belt and bringing into the ring, but just as Owens is about to use the title belt, Roman Reigns catches Owens with the Spear! However, with both men down, Chris Jericho would make his way down to the ring and, with a decision on his hands, Chris Jericho hits Kevin Owens with the Codebreaker, ending the match by disqualification! After the match, Chris Jericho grabs the WWE Universal Title belt and, just when it appears as though Jericho is interested in taking the title from Owens, Jericho hands the title belt over to Kevin Owens! Owens and Jericho then hug it out as it becomes apparent that the dissolution of their friendship over the last few weeks was a complete ruse! The best friends are then quick to leave the ring once they see a seething Roman Reigns heading their way, but as Owens and Jericho try to leave up the entrance ramp, they are halted by the arrival of Seth Rollins!

With no exit for Owens and Jericho, they back up to ringside where Roman Reigns is waiting as the United States Champion levels Kevin Owens with the Spear on the outside! Seth Rollins then catches Jericho in the ring, planting Jericho with the Pedigree. However, the former Shield teammates were not done with Chris Jericho as Reigns and Rollins expose the remaining announce table, delivering a Shield powerbomb to Jericho through the table! Having taken care of Chris Jericho, Reigns & Rollins would spot Kevin Owens trying to leave and they are quick to stop the WWE Universal Champion from escaping. Reigns & Rollins then expose the RAW announce table positioned by the stage before sending Kevin Owens crashing through it with another Shield powerbomb! Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns then stand tall over the broken table and the broken WWE Universal Champion, having made it completely clear that the former Shield teammates have had enough of the best friends.
